Troubled star Lindsay Lohan has sneaked back to her native Long Island, sources confirmed yesterday, to lick her wounds and be with family following a long downward spiral in Los Angeles that included drunken-driving arrests and stints in rehab.
La Lohan flew first class to Kennedy Airport late Friday with her younger sister, Ali, a source said. “She’s doing well,” mom Dina told The Post yesterday. The 21-year-old Hollywood flameout has been flying under the radar since her highly publicized bust following a wild and drunken car chase through Santa Monica last month.
An addled Lohan was found with a bag of cocaine in her pocket, cops said. After the bust, she was reported to have re-entered drug and alcohol treatment, but another source said that was not true and that she had been spotted Wednesday supping with 13-year-old Ali at Los Angeles eatery Koi. Now that she’s back in New York, sources say she is hunkered down at her mother’s Merrick house with mom, grandmom and three siblings. At one point yesterday, a cargo van from the airport delivered luggage to the house. Lindsay’s estranged father, Michael, said he hoped to have some contact with his daughter in order to help her get well and restart her hemorrhaging career.
“If it is true that she’s in New York, I hope we’ll have contact. I’ll help her in every possible way I can,” he told The Post. “I think it’s a good thing that she’s back with her family. Hopefully, the only element missing is myself. “Lindsay has to get away from the people she’s around in L.A. She needs to have her father and her mother in her life,” Michael added.
Lindsay was arrested on July 24 after hopping behind the wheel of another man’s SUV and chasing her former assistant’s mom at high speeds. The actress flunked a field sobriety test at the time, police said. During her booking, Santa Monica cops searched her and found a bag of cocaine in her pocket, police said. Lindsay is out on $25,000 bond and is due in court on Aug. 24, the same day she was to appear on previous DUI charges.
