“The Twilight Saga” Has Swept The Board At This Year’s British National Movie Awards

The vampire series – which turned Robert Pattinson, Kirsten Stewart and Taylor Lautner into international superstars – took three awards at the event at London’s Royal Festival Hall.   Peter Facinelli, who plays Dr Carlisle Cullen in the blood-sucking franchise, picked up the three prizes including Most Anticipated Movie of the Summer for ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’, Best Fantasy for ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’ and Performance of the Year for Robert Pattinson.

Speaking after the awards, Peter said: "With great anticipation comes great responsibility. We put a lot of effort into this."   Coming close behind ‘The Twilight Saga’ was the ‘Harry Potter’ movie series, which won the Special Recognition Award and Best Family Movie for ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’.   Tom Cruise – who flew into the event with his wife Katie Holmes – took home the Screen Icon award and he confessed he was pleased to win the prize which celebrated his entire career.   He said: "I can never get over the fact that I dreamed of coming to this country, the UK, I dreamed of making movies.
