'Dancing With The Stars' Season 11 – Week Eight Recap

Previously on Dancing With The Stars  Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke  graciously bid the ballroom goodbye.   Tonight is Instant Dance Night the contestants have to prepare a dance but they will only know what music they will perform to 45 minutes before they perform.  Len says this has the possibility to make or break a contestant. 

Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer – dancing with the Viennese Waltz.  Len says last week you were a bud and this week you are a gorgeous orchid.  Bruno said we are all totally charmed by you – you are a sophisticated young man.  This is the way you can win this.    Carrie  Ann says her crush on Kyle is back – he has a new elegance.  She thought it was brilliant.  Scores:  Carrie Ann, 9 Len, 9 Bruno, 9 Total: 27.  Kyle and Lacey picked their song for the Instant dance it is Good Golly Miss Molly by Chuck Berry.

Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough – dancing the Quick Step.  It was like watching a vintage Ginger Rogers & Fred Astaire quick step.    Scores:  Carrie Ann, 9 Len, 9 Bruno, 9 Total: 27.  Jennifer and Derek picked their song for the Instant Dance it is Waiting For A Girl Like You by Foreigner.

Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya – dancing the Waltz.   Carrie Ann said Kurt is like the Ken doll of dance.   She sees he is determined to do what Anna has taught him.  Len said it is nice to see a big guy be graceful.  Len thinks the whole feeling of the dance was beautiful.  Bruno thinks when he smiles he lights up the room.  Scores:  Carrie Ann, 8 Len, 8 Bruno, 8 Total: 24.   Kurt and Anna picked their song for the Instant Dance it is  Hella Good by No Doubt.

Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas –  dancing the Argentina Tango.   Len said the lifts were good, it was clean but it lacked a bit of intensity.  Bruno thought she kinda loses the expression sometime.  She has to be a bad girl.  She excutes it precisely.  Carrie Ann that it was the most intensity she ever had.  There was a great chemistry.  Scores:  Carrie Ann, 8 Len, 8 Bruno, 8 Total: 24.  Bristol and Mark picked their song for the Instant Dance it is Mas Que Nada by Sérgio Mendes.

Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy – dancing the Viennese Waltz.  Bruno said this was an exquisite interpretation of a song.  Carrie Ann said the emotional quality of her dancing is spellbinding.  Len said he was overwhelmed by the whole performance, beautiful.    Scores: Carrie Ann, 9 Len, 10 Bruno, 10 Total: 29.   Brandy and Maks picked their song for the Instant dance it is  Teenage Dream by Katy Perry.

Tonights first round is complete Brandy and Max are in the lead with 29.  Let’s see how the couples do in the second round for the Instant Dance.  Don’t forget the couples only had 45 minutes to rehearse with the song.

Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer – dancing the Jive to Good Golly Miss Molly.   Len said he came out fun and high energy.    He really enjoy.  Bruno loved it – they worked it like they rehearsed it for months.  Carrie Ann  says it was like the song was made for them.   Scores: Carrie Ann, 10 Len, 9 Bruno, 10 Total: 29.

Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough – dancing the Rhumba to Waiting for A Girl Like You.   Bruno says this challenge brought out the best of people.  The dance was superb.  Carrie Ann it was perfect.  Len said he just saw great dancing.   Scores: Carrie Ann, 10 Len, 10 Bruno, 10 Total: 30.

Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya dancing the Cha Cha to Hella Good.  Carrie Ann says he nailed every single thing – he was in his element.   Len thought it was well done.  Bruno says he came out and let it loose what they like to see.   The performance was good.   Scores: Carrie Ann, 8 Len, 8 Bruno, 8 Total: 24.

Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas –  dancing the Samba to Mas Que Nada.  Len says it is a difficult dance – but he thought she overall coped well with it.  Bruno thinks she can shake it.  Carrie Ann did not think she was not that connected with the music.  Scores: Carrie Ann, 7 Len, 8 Bruno, 8 Total: 23.

Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy – dancing the Cha Cha to Teenage Dream.   Bruno said another fabulous performance to end a fantastic night.  Carrie Ann says they took long to get to the musicality.  Len said the Cha Cha was full of flair.  Though Len agrees with Carrie Ann.  Scores: Carrie Ann, 9 Len, 9 Bruno, 10 Total: 28.

Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough and Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy are tied for top of the leaderboard.
