Lady Gaga’s ‘Alejandro’ video represents "desire to take in the holy."   The director of Lady Gaga’s new 8 minute long video, Steven Klein has hit back at claims that his mini-movie is disrespectful to religion.   The video has been targeted after it showed the ‘Poker Face’ singer swallowing Rosemary beads whilst dressed as a nun.   The fashion photographer turned pop video director explained to MTV that his creation was "not meant to denote anything negative," and that particular scene "represents the desire to take in the holy."

Fellow hit maker Katy Perry twittered that she felt:" Using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling a fart joke."   However, Steven protested that it "represents the character’s battle between the dark forces of this world and the spiritual salvation of the Soul. Thus at the end of the film, she chooses to be a nun, and the reason her mouth and eyes disappear is because she is withdrawing her senses from the world of evil and going inward towards prayer and contemplation."
