Jennifer Lopez’s husband Marc Anthony received his second tax lien – this one for $1.8 million which in addition to a recent $1.6 million lien make a total of a cool $3.4 million that he owes in back taxes.
This is just the latest is a series of tax crimes Marc has been involved with. The multi-millionaire musician, 41, who married J.Lo in 2004 was ordered to pay $2.5 million in back taxes in 2007 after avoiding paying tax for four years. In that case Marc claimed it was the fault of his business management company and ultimately paid the fine, however, his financial team plead guilty to a series of tax felonies. Amazing, but not surprising, how the law allows rich people to hide behind their employees and avoid taking responsibility for what are ultimately their actions.
It seems that some of the rich and famous stars don’t like to pay their fair share. They have no problem living the good life in America and enjoying all the benefits of living in a free society that respects property rights and the rule of law but when it comes time to cough up the tax payments that make this whole enterprise feasible they balk. They hire crooks with diplomas to find ‘legal’ ways not to pay or sometimes they simply just don’t pay!
