Daily Mail is reporting that Madonna is set to design a childrens line inspired by her daughter Lourdes. Madonna with the help of Lourdes will work with Iconix Brand Group to create new venture MG Icon. The first collection, ‘Material Girl’, available at 200 Macy stores and online, will comprise of back-to-school apparel, footwear, handbags and jewellery, retailing from $12 to $40.
Madonna could also be set to expand into lifestyle and beauty, with a fragrance expected to launch next year. Neil Cole, CEO and Chairman of Iconix, who own a portfolio of brands including Ed Hardy and Badgley Mischka, said: ‘We are excited to announce the first in a series of new brands that will be developed under our partnership with Madonna. ‘We believe that "Material Girl" will be a dynamic exclusive brand for Macy’s, and we look forward to working with Madonna, Lourdes and the Iconix team. ‘Madonna is a fashion icon who can bring a new dimension to our juniors customer,’ said Jeff Gennette, Macy’s chief merchandising officer. "’Material Girl’ will enhance the excitement of fast fashion at Macy’s.’
