'Dancing With The Stars' Season 12 – Week One Recap

We have survived the long cold winter and now we deserve dancing – finally – the moment we have all been waiting for – the season premiere of Season 12?s Dancing With the Stars.  DWTS is back with 11 new stars.  The first dances of Season 12 are the Foxtrot and the Cha Cha Cha.   Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke are back as the hosts. Our favorite judges are back; Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba.

So without further ado let’s get started:

Chelsea Kane and Professional Dancer, Mark Ballas dancing the foxtrotLen, said they were a young fresh couple and it had a young fresh appeal.  Overall he thinks they did a very good job.  Bruno, 1 1/2 minute of pure after glow – she has to learn to control but she has talent.  Carrie Ann, you have a lot of potential, she likes the flair but she has to watch the flair and there is a little lack of connection.  Scores: Carrie Ann, 7  Len, 7  Bruno, 7   Total = 21.

Wendy Williams and Professional Dancer, Tony Dovolani dancing the Cha Cha Cha.  Len,  I looked at you I though loud and proud, but you did not bring your personality on the floor.   This is not good enough.  Bruno, you are a luscious,  gorgeous women but you need to show it, you have to deliver the performance.  Carrie Ann, I saw real fear in your eyes.  You definitely need to go way more, you need to unleash the beast.  Scores: Carrie Ann, 5  Len, 4  Bruno, 5   Total = 14.

Hines Ward and Professional Dancer, Kym Johnson dancing the Cha Cha Cha.  Len, It was clean, it was crisp you were confident you have to work on your posture but I tell you it was a good job  Bruno, So light, so nimble, the timing was excellent you have a natural performance talent.  Carrie Ann,  That was the sparkliest cha cha I ever saw, you were in control there good job!  Scores: Carrie Ann, 7  Len, 7  Bruno, 7   Total = 21.

Petra Nemcova and Professional Dancer, Dmitry Chaplin dancing the FoxtrotLen, He thought the whole routine had charm and grace, he would like her to work on her posture.  Bruno, thought there was some moments of extreme beauty and sophistication.  She has to get much stronger  Carrie Ann, said she is stunning and has a natural grace, but there was a long drag that turned into a lift she is not going to penalize but.. Scores: Carrie Ann, 6  Len, 6  Bruno, 6   Total = 18.

Romeo and Professional Dancer, Chelsie Hightower dancing the Cha Cha Cha.  Len,  says he has plenty of energy, he really attacked the dance, but it was a bit casual, he has to work on technique and he will go a long way.  Bruno, So vibrant,  so playful, so energetic, but he lost it a couple of times – he said he has everything to do well.  Carrie Ann, says he has sex appeal for days, sex appeal was definitely going on but his posture was not great.  Scores: Carrie Ann, 7  Len, 6  Bruno, 6   Total = 19.

Sugar Ray Leonard and Professional Dance Partner, Anna Trebunskaya dancing the foxtrotLen, said the energy level and performance was high and the dancing level low Bruno,  said you were giving the dance but then he turned into a ninja turtle.  You didn’t quite get it.  Carrie Ann, says he lights up the dance floor and is obviously going to be a crowd pleaser  Needs to work on his posture.  Scores: Carrie Ann, 6 Len, 5  Bruno, 6   Total = 17.

Kendra Wilkinson and Professional Dance Parter,  Louis Van Amstel dancing the Cha Cha Cha.   Len, said the content of the routine was good, she needs to work from the waist down  Well done he said.  Bruno, she can strut her stuff and she can work it but was not clean.  Carrie Ann, She loves her spunk, she did not miss a step.  Scores: Carrie Ann, 6 Len, 6  Bruno, 6   Total = 18.

Ralph Macchio and Professional Dance Partner,  Karina Smirnoff dancing the foxtrot.  Len, said you can dance, you have great potential – the best foxtrot tonight.  Bruno, He has a feeeling that he is going to be a great hit – great showmanship fantastic routine.  Carrie Ann, WOW, that was an amazing surprise, it was truly gorgeous and elegant.  Scores: Carrie Ann, 8 Len, 8 Bruno, 8   Total = 24.

Chris Jericho and Professional Dance Partner, Cheryl Burke dancing the Cha Cha Cha.   Len, thinks his hips are allergic to dancing but he likes the energy.  Bruno, says he is the dancing beast, sometimes unsteady but always entertaining.  Carrie Ann, she said he needs to put a little more content in his dancing.  Scores: Carrie Ann, 7 Len, 6 Bruno, 6   Total = 19.

Mike Catherwood and Professional Dance Partner, Lacey Schwimmer dancing the foxtrotLen, He said dancing is movement to music he did move and there was music but there was very little dance quality.  Bruno, said the foxtrot is smooth and it was slighly ungainly.  Carrie Ann, thinks that the judges were a little hard on him – she thought he kept up but he made a good effort.  Scores: Carrie Ann, 5 Len, 4 Bruno, 4   Total = 13.

Kirstie Alley and Professional Dance Partner, Maks Chmerkovskiy dancing the Cha Cha ChaLen, It was fun, it was cheeky and we all loved it – good job.  Bruno, likes what he saw, he thinks we are just scratching the surface of what she can do – she had the best foot placement of the night.  Carrie Ann, said she was working it, it had sizzle, way to go.  Scores: Carrie Ann, 8 Len, 7 Bruno, 8   Total = 23.

That’s it for the first night – at the top are Ralph Macchio and Professional Dance Partner,  Karina Smirnoff and at the bottom Mike Catherwood and Professional Dance Partner, Lacey Schwimmer.  Next week the dancers will get another chance to perform and one couple will go home.
