'Breaking Bad' Looks To Conclude Next Season

‘Breaking Bad’s’ creator, Vince Gilligan, said this week that he is looking for an end date for the series next year – making season 5 the last.  Additionally, leading role players Aaron Paul and Anna Gunn have also admitted that they expect Breaking Bad to end next year.   Gilligan said: “Right now I would say season five should probably be our last season, but… check with me a year from now [and] we’ll see if I change my tune.”

Gunn, who plays Skyler, has now revealed that she would not be surprised if the show came to an end in 2012.  “We all knew that with this kind of story, there would be a finite time that we could keep it going because the guy’s got terminal cancer,” she told TV Guide. “We all knew that, but it’s a great job and to hear that it’s coming to a close is of course a little sad. It’s the right thing and [Gilligan] knows the right time to bring it to a close.”

Paul, who stars in the show as Jesse, also admitted that the idea of the show ending is “very sad.”

“But I think it’s very smart to end it on a good note,” he added. “As Vince would say, you don’t want to be the last person at the party. I think the show has been so great from day one and you should end it on a good note.”

Breaking Bad returns for its fourth season on July 17 on AMC.
