Christina Aguilera Discusses Super Bowl Flub

If you’ll recall, on the day of the Super Bowl, Christina Aguilera was given the honor of singing the National Anthem. She forgot some of the lyrics and transposed others, yet, she still sounded great. It was obviously the flub heard around the nation, as she was mocked mercilessly by anyone within earshot.

She went on The Tonight Show, as well as The Ellen DeGeneres Show and talked to both hosts about the Star Spangled Screwup.

She joked to Jay Leno, saying, “I never make mistakes. I never forget lyrics. I never trip up onstage. I do nothing wrong!”

She told Ellen DeGeneres that she’d been singing the song forever and it all boiled down to nerves. She said, “I had been singing that song my entire life. I was the youngest anthem singer in my hometown of Pittsburgh. That night I knew, I just made myself a Trivial Pursuit question….In 2011, what female singer, ya know, flubbed the lyrics? It’s just insane. But I have a really good laugh about it and you get over things.”

It’s good to hear that she still has a sense of humor about things…even though we know that she’s only talking about it because she wants to promote her new show, The Voice.
