DWTS Propels Ricki Lake On The Path To Be The New Oprah

Ricki Lake’s dazzling performance on ‘Dancing With The Stars’ has served as the catalyst in getting the big TV networks to back her for a new talk show. Riki will return to television presenting in 2012 with a new series in association with 20th Century Fox Television and she is being groomed to replace Oprah Winfrey as the ‘Queen of Daytime TV.’ The stakes are high as the lucrative daytime talk show market is now without Oprah – and Riki’s show is designed to fill that gap.

The show is expected to air on either the Fox or NBC networks or a combination of the two and is aimed at the 25-54 year old female demographic. Riki is 43 and as she progresses through middle age she should be a natural to keep a great range of woman as loyal viewers.

Riki concluded her eponymous talk show, ‘The Riki Lake Show,’ in 2004 after 11 successful years.  Speaking about the new show Riki said: “Many of you grew up with me. I hope you’ll stay in touch with me.”

“We’ll learn about each other, and I’m so looking forward to getting back on the air with a show that you guys are needing to see.”

“I want to spark ideas and conversations and inspire people to take active roles in their communities, relationships and their well-being.”

‘I have definitely grown as a person since I put down the mic in 2005, and I couldn’t be happier to share and continue the journey with both my existing fans and an entirely new generation of women.”

Riki’s exuberance and popularity on DWTS must have convinced the decision makers at Fox Television to back her in the race to grab Oprah’s viewers.
