Gwyneth Paltrow Plans To Raise Her Children As Jews

Gwyneth Paltrow is planning to raise her children in the Jewish faith.  Despite having being quoted as “not believing” in religion herself, Gwyneth recently discovered her family come from a long line of influential Eastern European rabbis and it has made her see religion in a new light.

Gwyneth has a daughter, Apple, seven, and five-year-old son Moses with her husband Chris Martin – recently discovered her family come from a long line of influential East European rabbis and it has made her reconsider her approach to parenting.

Speaking about her decision in front of guests at a London event hosted by Jewish charity the Community Security Trust, Gwyneth, whose late father, producer Bruce Paltrow, was Jewish, admitted appearing on the ancestry show ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ convinced her to raise her family in the Jewish faith.

She recently said of being brought up as both Jewish and Christian: “It was such a nice way to grow up. I don’t believe in religion. I believe in spirituality. Religion is the cause of all the problems in the world.”

In the Jewish religion, a child’s religion is passed on through the matriarchal line which means neither Gwyneth nor her children are Jewish as Gwyneth’s mom, Blythe Danner, is Christian.   So if Gwyneth wants to be considered Jewish by Jews, and wants the same for her children, then all three will have to formally convert.
