Jaycee Dugard Tells Her Untold Story Of Kidnapping & Abuse

People magazine has excerpts and pictures from Jaycee Lee Dugard‘s new Memoirs A Stolen Life.  Jaycee is now 31 years old.  Jaycee was kidnapped on June 10, 1991, when she was 11 years old.  Jaycee was abducted from a school bus stop within sight of her home in South Lake Tahoe, California by Phillip Garrido.

Over the 18 years she remained missing Jaycee suffered sexual abuse at the hands of her captor and two pregnancies.   The two daughters she had were were aged 11 and 15 at the time of her reappearance.  Phillip Craig Garrido, 58, and his wife Nancy Garrido, 54,  were arrested for kidnapping and other charges.  On June 2, 2011, Philip Garrido was sentenced to 431 years’ imprisonment; his wife received 36 years to life.

Simon & Schuster head Jonathan Karp talked about the manuscript while it was in progress.   He said: “When I read the pages, I was moved and inspired by the raw power of Jaycee Dugard’s voice, her strength and her resilience.”

I cannot imagine what she went through,  she must have had an incredible will to survive.  This is a book I will certainly be reading.  What about  you, will you buy the book?
