Just a few days ago, 1-800-LAWFIRM attorney Ari Kresch launched a lawsuit against pop singer Lady Gaga over the Japan relief wristbands that she is selling. In the wake of the disasters in Japan, Gaga jumped into action to create these wristbands to benefit those who were in need overseas.
Ari claimed that Gaga was inflating the cost of shipping and handling of the bracelets, in order to inflate her own pocketbook. The wristbands were being sold for $5.00, in addition to $3.99 for shipping and handling and 60 cents for taxes.
Ari said in a statement, “I’m suing Lady Gaga simply to hold her accountable for giving the money that she was raising for charity ot the cause that she was trying to raise it for.”
Gaga’s spokesperson has hit back at the lawsuit’s claims, calling the whole thing “misguided.” The spokesperson said, “This misguided lawsuit is without merit and unfortunately takes attention away from the kind deeds of the fans around the world who are supporting the people of Japan. The entire $5 donation made with the purchase of each bracelet is going to support the disaster relief. No profit is being made on shipping costs. Sales tax charges were made in accordance with local legal requirements.”
The spokesperson added, “Lady Gaga has personally pledged her own funds to this cause and continus to support the victims of the disaster.”
