People involved in a divorce, let alone a shocking one, can not be faulted for feeling down and confused. Although Maria Shriver is a super millionaire, a star, and a member of American ‘royalty’ through her Kennedy connection she still has to deal with negative emotions.
Although Maria says her split from Arnold Schwarzenegger has left her ‘feeling down and confused’ she realizes that things could be worse and that there are other people in the world facing bigger problems .
Maria filed for divorce from Arnold earlier this year after it became public that Arny and the housekeeper had a child years ago. Mildred Patricia ‘Patty’ Baena gave birth to Arnold’s son Joseph in 1997 just a few days after Maria gave birth to his son Christopher.
Maria seems to have found some solace in an email from a mentally challenged friend. Maria said: “When I was going through my own challenges this year; feeling down and confused, I got an email from him. He wrote me a note saying, ‘You’re my best friend Maria and you will never be left out.'”

Maria thanked people for all their support: “When the world is so complicated, the simple gift of friendship is within all of our hands. Thank you to everyone who came up to me this weekend and wished me well. I appreciate your support, particularly this year, for sticking with me.”
