Michael Jackson’s mother, Katherine Jackson, says that the gang of lawyers handling her son’ estate are filing frivolous lawsuits in order to make more work and money for themselves.
Katherine said: “All these lawyers that are involved in Michael’s business since he passed and there’s a lot of them, I think they’re trying to create different lawsuits and things because they’re greedy and they want to get paid.”
Everybody knows that some professionals are not above making extra work for themselves by going out of their way to practice their trade even in situations in which this is not really required. Doctors ordering unnecessary operations, mechanics doing repairs on unbroken cars, lawyers encouraging lawsuits that have no possibility of a good outcome, etc. However in this case it appears that Katherine’s beef with the estate lawyers is grounded rather personally. You see the MJ estate is currently suing Katherine’s business partner Howard Mann for allegedly profiting off MJ’s name and likeness without their permission, and this is going to hit Katherine right in her pocketbook.
So while it is possible that MJ’s estate lawyers are pursuing a course that is primarily beneficial to themselves, Katherine is in no place to say that – she is self-interested. It would suit her well if the estate lawyers just let her partner keep using her late son’s identity so she can profit.
