I can’t say that I’m very surprised to hear that Charlie Sheen has finally shot himself in the foot (and I do mean finally) and gotten his hit show Two and a Half Men cancelled. The decision came from CBS days before Sheen was to return to the set after his third ‘stint’ in rehab. In a recent article in People.com, according to a Warner Bros producer, “Based on the totality of Charlie Sheen’s statements, conduct and condition, CBS and Warner Bros. Television have decided to discontinue production of Two and a half Men for the remainder of the season”. This statement came shortly after Sheen’s negative comments and rants towards Alcoholics Anonymous, his ex wife, his ‘party girls’, and Two and a half Men creator Chuck Lorre.
Has Charlie gone to far? It’s been only a matter of time that the fine tightrope that Sheen has been walking on came falling down. His outrageous outbursts, opinions and remarks to several radio stations and celebrity website TMZ were the last straw for the hit show’s producers, and sadly, it’s the cast and crew who Sheen so adamantly praised who will suffer.
As early as Friday February 25th, OK Magazine reported that Sheen is in talks to star in a new HBO series called ‘Sheen’s Corner’. First of all, is this really a good idea for someone clearly manic and unstable as he has so often proven to be? Even Dr. Drew is worried about him! If he can’t hang on to an already highly successful show why walk right into fire? Secondly, please don’t tell me that this is a reality show…although, if ratings is what the network is looking for, watching Mr Sheen’s hectic life in the press hit the screen in reality format might just be what the actor needs to see how toxic his behaviour is. Or it will make him more famous than he already is. Let’s face it – it probably would, who are we kidding. Although Charlie seems to think this is his next ‘career move’, an HBO rep claims that there is “no truth to this”. Hmm, wonder where he pulled that one from? Maybe the same place that gave him his fire-breathing fists…
