A Shiksa Goddess no longer: Tila Tequila Converts to Judaism

Just when you thought you’d finally cured the eye syphilis that was caused by watching her MTV reality show, “A Shot At Love with Tila Tequila,” everyone’s favorite half-naked MySpace “legend” is back in the press for talking about—wait for it—her conversion to Judaism!

According to TMZ, the notorious former reality star—whose real name is Tila Nguyen— has reportedly been working hard to become one of God’s chosen people. Tequila, who was brought up Christian, told the celebrity news website, “as time passed, I started to become more and more fascinated with Kabbalah, the culture, and the way of life of the reform Judaism religion.” Her fascination has led her to take conversion classes at an undisclosed New York Synagogue. Often a lengthy process, converting involves embracing Jewish practices, such as understanding and accepting the duties of Jewish religious law.

On how serious she plans to take her new found religion, Tequila is starting small and planning to adopt a liberal version of Judaism admitting, “Orthodox is a little hardcore for me at this stage.”

Apparently, Tequila is only into certain types of hardcore…  Ehem.

All jokes aside, Tequila does appear committed to this particular life change, and even skipped Christmas to focus on her transformation. Very excited, she told TMZ, “I just feel like the Jewish people have such a beautiful way about them, and I can’t wait to officially be Jewish! Shabbat Shalom!”

Tequila is adamant that this conversion isn’t a PR grab. However, the 30-year-old recently tweeted “who misses seeing me on TV? cus baby TILA’S COMING BACK!!!” Let’s hope this was a reference to her appearance on last night’s episode of TLC’s NY Ink and not a plug for some upcoming show where she puts Rabbis through rigorous challenges in hopes of winning a chance to teach her Hebrew.

Actually—let’s not give her any ideas.
