American Idol 2012 Recap: Season 11 ‘Top 8 Results Show’ 4/5/12

Tonight is another American Idol result show and after tonight we will bid goodbye to another competitor and we will be down to our Top 7. On last night’s show the mentor was No Doubt’s lead singer Gwen Stefani and bassist Tony Kanal.  The contestants chose to sing songs from the 80’s.

We also found out last night that last week’s eliminated contestant Heejun Han will sing God Bless America tonight during Opening Day at Citi Field for the New York Mets.  If you missed last night’s episode you can read our full recap here!

Tonight we will say goodbye to another competitor and our prediction is that either Hollie Cavanagh or DeAndre Brackensick may have to worry tonight.  Although the judges could use their save which is still in play to save someone from elimination.

Left in the competition are: Jessica Sanchez, Phillip Phillips, Elise Testone, Joshua Ledet, Skylar Laine, Colton Dixon, DeAndre Brackensick and Hollie Cavanagh.

The results show will will feature a performance by ‘American Idol’ finalist on the 5th season Kellie Pickler and the episode will feature a performance from The Wanted.

RECAP: Someone will get the news tonight that will end another Idol dream, will it be Joshua? I hope not because he just told Ryan Seacrest that he feels like he’s going to black out and getting voted out may be just the thing to do it.

First up tonight on stage is Joshua Ledet and Jessica Sanchez. Jimmy thinks Joshua reigned in perfectly last night and found his sweet spot, Jessica gets a lower rating because Jimmy thinks she is a powerhouse that didn’t choose the right song last night. Next to find out their fate is Skylar Laine and Colton Dixon. Jimmy is so happy that he talked Skylar out of singing 9 to 5, instead she took a great song and made it a great performance. Colton was good last night, but Jimmy doesn’t think he was great like some of the other male singers.

Ryan adds another two on stage, Hollie Cavanagh and DeAndre Brackensick. Jimmy thought Hollie was worse than a high school performance. DeAndre had the judges favor last night but Jimmy thinks he was not great, he needs to come out and grow. In fact, Jimmy thinks DeAndre is the weakest link among the men.

Elise Testone and Phillip Phillips is next to find out their fate. Jimmy thinks there are three versions of Phillip and last night was just a good one which actually portrayed an average performance. Else on the other hand loved the song choice last night but she hit the stage and she choked which he thinks can take her from the top, right to the bottom.

Joshua Ledet is SAFE

Jessica Sanchez is SAFE

Colton Dixon is SAFE

Skylar Laine is SAFE

Phillip Phillips is SAFE

DeAndre Brackensick is in the BOTTOM THREE

Hollie Cavanagh is in the BOTTOM THREE

Elise Testone is in the BOTTOM THREE

Who will sing for survival, not Hollie, Ryan has told her to go back to the couches, she is SAFE. It is now between DeAndre and Elise. Steven thinks America got it wrong and so does Jennifer and Randy. Time to dim the lights, the person who is at risk to leave us tonight is DeAndre, Elise is safe. DeAndre sings for his life in the hopes that the judges will use their only and almighty powerful save. This is as tough as it gets, a wild card pick who has fought every week to be on this show, will they use the save? Jennifer breaks DeAndre’s heart, they are not saving him tonight. Well Jennifer did want to save him, but Steven and Randy didn’t so it’s time for him to leave, just what I thought.

DeAndre is ELIMINATED
