Tonight is another American Idol result show and after tonight we will bid goodbye to another competitor and we will be down to our Top 8. On last night’s show the mentor was Fleetwood Mac singer/songwriter and solo artist Stevie Nicks. The Top 9 performed songs from their personal musical idols. The finalists also broke down into groups of three to perform songs from musical greats Michael Jackson, Madonna, Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac.
There were some great performances last night and the judges Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler were on their feet a lot. If you missed the episode you can read our full recap here!
The 9 contestants who performed last night were: Joshua Ledet’s video; Heejun Han’s video; Jessica Sanchez video; Colton Dixon video; Philip Philips’ video; DeAndre Brackensick’s video; Elise Testone; Hollie Cavanaugh and Skylar Laine.
On tonight’s show reigning American Idol winner Scotty McCreery returns to perform “Water Tower Town” live. Also taking the stage will be Nicki Minaj to perform “Starships.”

RECAP: Ryan Seacrest has big Aerosmith breaking news; the band is going on tour, tickets go on sale this Saturday. Ryan shows some celebrity tweets from last night, sadly DeAndre didn’t have one so Ryan surprises him with a guest appearance of Eric Benét who tells him that he loved his performance last night.
First up up on stage tonight to find out their fate is Elise, Phillip and Hollie. Jimmy thinks Elise took control of the stage last night, so she is probably safe. Phillip was awesome last night and Stevie Nicks loves him and believes in him, so he’ll probably be safe as well. Hollie is the one that needs to be afraid tonight, all judges weren’t in favor of her rendition of “Jesus Takes The Wheel”.
Colton, Joshua and Heejun are up next to find out their fate. Jimmy thought Colton was good, but not good enough last night. Joshua has so much talent, Jimmy thought when he got emotional, he lost it. Jimmy doesn’t think Heejun sings as well as the other eight contestants that are still on the show, I agree.
Skylar, DeAndre and and Jessica are the last three up on stage. Jimmy loves how Skylar always pulls something out, but he wasn’t thrilled about last night’s song choice. With DeAndre, Jimmy is still in the middle, he thinks he needs more experience. At 16 years old, Jimmy thinks Jessica shows a lot of experience, he is fully on board with her.

Ryan Seacrest announces that he is going send one person to safety, that is Skylar. It’s between Hollie and Heejun that will be in the bottom and in jeopardy of going home, it’s Heejun. When Ryan announces that it is Heejun, the guy has this sarcastic look on his face and for that attitude alone, he deserves to go home tonight. He didn’t deserve to be on the show and I hardly doubt the judges are going to use their save for a mediocre singer like Heejun.
