This would definitely get me to watch! After weeks of speculation over who could be stepping in to replace Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger on season two of The X-Factor, Britney Spears is reportedly in talks to join the judging panel on the popular Fox show.
“The timing is perfect. Brit would love to connect with fans on a weekly basis and loves working on TV after several guest appearances on the sitcom How I Met Your Mother,” an insider close to the 30-year-old pop star told Sunday World.
While Britney isn’t exactly known for her awesome singing talent—I might point out that neither are Paula or Nicole Sherzinger— there is no denying that she is a superstar. If Britney’s people are talking to X-Factor producers, they would be stupid to pass that up. Having Britney on the show would definitely be a ratings boost as fans are clamoring to see the new, normal, happily engaged Spears on the show. In fact, almost 10,000 fans have already voted for Britney to appear as a judge on fansite breathheavy.com!
In a conference call with E! Online, remaining judges Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid discussed the replacement rumors. “There’s a load of speculation, some true, some not true,” Simon explained. “It’s true to say that a lot of more people have entered the frame this year. We will meet a number of people over the next few weeks, mainly to explain to them that this is a big commitment when you do a show like this because of the mentoring aspect.” Hey Simon! Who better to mentor then a reformed pop star who was once a crazed, umbrella-wielding psycho! She’s experienced all aspects of stardom, especially the ugly parts.

Unfortunately, if there is anything Simon knows how to do, it is to titillate and excite viewers and thus he is staying mum on the Spears rumors, ”While you’ve got The Voice and Idol competing with each other, I’ve learned one lesson: Keep your mouth shut. Don’t give it all away.”
On the report that Elton John may be joining the team, L.A. Reid denied this saying, “The only thing you can count on is that we will have two girls,” He said. “That we can confirm.”
Other celebrities who have been named as possible replacements include Fergie, Janet Jackson, and Beyonce!
