For certain, you cannot put much stock on gossip. But there’s usually no smoke without fire. The gossip we read in the media may be embellished somewhat but, in truth, can you imagine Queen Elizabeth accepting Camilla as Queen Consort?! I very much doubt it, considering how she became part of the family. And then there is the drinking problem to consider as well. To be sure, there’s something going on and I wouldn’t blame the Queen if she opts for William to succeed her.

As for being anti-royalist … I am not British so I speak as an objective observer here. I think you ought to be proud of your heritage. There is great prestige in having a long tradition in your history. Why should it all come to an end because times have changed. The important thing is that the reigning monarchs do not act authoritarian; that they allow the democratic process to continue. But to abolish the monarchy! … I feel it is wrong. They have as much right to their heritage and their place in history as you do.
