Comedian Lisa Lampanelli Supports The Trump Son’s Hunting Lifestyle

Some of you by now have already seen the despicable hunting pictures that recently surfaced of Donald Trump’s sons while they were on a hunting excursion in Zimbabwe.  The one picture I saw was enough to make me despise them.  It was of the boys holding up the dead carcass of a leopard.  There were more but I couldn’t bare it.

Donald Jr. and Eric Trump went on an animal-killing spree some time last year and are believed to have killed an elephant, a leopard, crocodile, waterbuck – and who knows what else.  Despicable.  Disgusting.  Shameful.  These are only a few words that come to mind (that can be published anyway).

For obvious reasons, the animal rights group PETA is outraged.  Rightfully so.  But what shocks me, is the remarks made by comedian Lisa Lampanelli who is currently appearing on Donald Trump’s show, Celebrity Apprentice.  She was out in NYC last night and was asked about the controversial pictures.  Lisa replied:

“I love the fact that Mr. Trump and the little other Mr. Trump … and the other one approve of hunting … I would love it if Ivanka got out there with a bazooka.  Hunt all you want g*d d*mmit.”?

Wow, who knew that Lisa was that much of a sell out?  Does she think that supporting the “Mr. Trumps” that she would get on their good side?  Whatever her reason, every one has the right to freedom of speech.  Thankfully this job gives me the right to freedom of words.  And I’ll say this, in my opinion; they are all rotten excuses for human beings.  That’s all.

Before you comment on hunting, understand that it supports conservation. Donor fatigue always dries up all the well meaning gestures but hunting is a sustainable source of money and funds more game rangers than any tourism could. There are more than enough elephants as witnessed by the devastation of vegetation in Zimbabwe, and crocodiles are way overpopulated.

That is often argued and there might be SOME truth to it however it is an easy excuse too and is not really applicable to all situations. In certain countries – like Zimbabwe – you can hunt just about anything and the money made from it is usually not going back into protecting wildlife.

I believe they’ve found that elephant herds that normally spend equal time in Zambia and Zimbabwe are now spending more time in Zambia each year as they have learned that when they go to Zimbabwe a lot of them die.  The effect on the Zambian ecology has been devastating.

Also with poaching escalating dramatically with the rise of the Chinese middle class and increased demand for status materials like ivory, culling of elephants in any form really needs to be watched carefully as their populations can plummet suddenly.

Also, hunting and poaching is very different from culling.  Hunters and poachers tend to go after the biggest, strongest, most impressive animals which is disastrous for a species as these are typically their breeding stock.  For example, taking out the matriarchs and best breeding bulls of an elephant population not only weakens their social structure but also the quality of the herd.  This applies for all hunted and poached animals.  If you want an example look at the info coming out about wild salmon now – they are getting smaller and smaller as humans have been taking so many of the biggest, fattest and strongest salmon for such a long period that natural selection has meant that the species is becoming smaller.  With elephants the damage to their social structure is also terrible.

Anyway, I think most people are just disgusted by this wealthy “do what I want” attitude.  These guys didn’t track the animals, they didn’t do the hard work to hunt them, they went in a car (with it’s own bar) whilst other people did all of that and then pulled out their high-powered weapons and shot beautiful animals.  I think people just find that really distasteful.  It also tends to make one think that they are “compensating” for something…  trying to be “big men”.  It’s pathetic.

What people do not realize is that the hunters all want the biggest elephant with the biggest tusk.  Unfortunately, the biggest elephant with the biggest tusk is also the oldest elephant who has learned through decades where to find water holes during droughts.  It is traumatizing for herds to lose their matriarchs, and even bachelor herds need their big bulls to school them in the ways of the world. In some areas, the oldest elephant is 15, and elephants mature at the same age that people do, and live as long.
