Don’t Write Madonna Off – MDNA Will Debut At Number One

Don't Write Madonna Off - MDNA Will Debut At Number One

Anyone thinking the Queen of Pop was over the hill – better think again. Madonna‘s new CD is on track to debut in top spot on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart. Not bad for a 53 year old Mom of four!

Madge is expected to sell around 350,000 copies of MDNA in its first week of release which means number one is hers for the taking. The Material Girl is no stranger to top spot – this will be her eighth album to reach numero uno in the US. Her first was Like A Virgin way back in February 1985. This girl has staying power. It kind of leaves you asking Lady Gaga who?

She’s also looking like a shoe in for number one on the other side of the Atlantic. So expect MDNA to dominate the UK chart as well. Top spot there will also see her overtake an Elvis Presley record – the most UK number one albums of all time by a solo act.

Of course Mads is a marketing machine and she’s made sure we’re all talking about her new CD. There was the Superbowl half time show, a world tour announcement, then the controversial Girl Gone Wild video, the war of words with a top DJ over drug use Madonna’s Ecstasy War With Deadmau5 and a bit of Bieber action Madonna Tweets Justin Bieber Invite To Join Her On Tour All carefully designed to keep MDNA in the headlines.

But at the end of the day – it just shows we may have Gaga – but we prefer the original wild child of pop. And she has still got it 30 years on!
