Grey’s Anatomy Season 9 Episode 4 “I Saw Her Standing There” Recap 10/25/12

Grey’s Anatomy Season 9 Episode 4 "I Saw Her Standing There" Recap 10/25/12

Tonight on ABC is an all new episode of Grey’s Anatomy.  Tonight’s show is called “I Saw Her Standing There” and tonight aware that Derek might never operate again, Meredith stops talking about the surgeries she’s performing. If you missed last week’s episode we have a full and detailed recap here for you.

Last week on Grey’s Anatomy, the damaged doctor’s turned down a huge settlement offer from the airline. They’d been ready to settle, but Derek talked them down. Christina found the geriatric doctor she’s been dissing actually had something to teach her.   April said she was “revirginizing” and Jackson was angry at her for trying to purge him from her life. But by the end of the ep, they were at it again so I guess renewing her v-card will have to wait!
Meanwhile Arizona’s still legless in Seattle and angry at Callie about it. While she sits in a puddle of her own urine, she and callie have a major spat.

Christina and owen were chatting about the settlement, but then she basically told him she was cutting him off altogether.  Those are the highlights from last week – and I’m super excited about tonight’s episode – Christina’s going to go all boss with benefits with her new chief out in Minnesota, April and Jackson are keeping it steamy and the damaged doctors that survived the wreck continue their painful recovery!

On tonight’s show aware that Derek might never operate again, Meredith stops talking about the surgeries she’s performing. Meanwhile, Richard calls on Dr. Catherine Avery to help him perform a complicated procedure, as things continue to heat up between Jackson and April; and Arizona’s struggle to accept her fate forces Callie and Alex to face their guilt.

Tonight’s episode looks like it is going to be a great episode and you won’t want to miss it, so be sure to tune in for our live coverage of ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 9 episode 4 at 9 PM EST! Tonight’s recap:  We open with Cristina having steamy sex with someone and Derek and Meredith doing the deed. We see Cristina’s in bed with her new boss out in Minnesota. Meredith and Derek get interrupted by a phone call from the hospital, but decide to finish up before she heads in. Jackson and April are dressing after a romp and agree it can never happen again.

Dr. Webber’s dressed up in a suit and catches some flak for it. But then Jackson’s mom Catherine shows up… So that’s why he’s all pimped out.

Alex is frustrated because the new peds chief has changed passwords. Callie spills it that Arizona’s in the hospital getting fitted for her first prosthetic, but she doesn’t want anyone to know.

David, the prosthetist tells Arizona they’ll be working together for a long time – she asks how long and he says until her leg grows back or he dies… He tells her the leg looks good – no scar tissue.

Meredith and Cristina are chatting about her being “sex friends” with her boss Parker. Mer tells her to stop having sex with her boss and Cristina admits the old guy is her new bestie. Mer has to hang up because her sidekick Dr. Brooks has maybe found a rare condition in one of their patients.

Catherine’s been brought in to consult on one of Webber’s cases – it’s a guy who looks like he’s got a basketball in his sweatpants but he swears he doesn’t… Brian’s friend says he’s been avoiding treatment because he doesn’t want to go to their high school reunion.

Back in Minnesota – Dr. Thomas (the old guy) and Cristina are consulting on a surgery – they have an amazingly congenial rapport – each insults the other laughingly – it’s sweet.

Mer and Dr. Brooks tell their crying patient he has a tumor and he bawls like a girl.

Derek’s teaching – his jacked up hand is keeping him out of the OR. There’s a kiss up guy in class driving everyone nuts.

Catherine and Webber are flirting while the giant testicle gets an MRI. Eww. They discuss hiding their romance from Jackson and they agree sneaking around adds to the fun. Bailey interrupts them and offers an extra set of hands on the giant testicle. Webber tells her he was going to give the scrub in to April and she’s upset she’ll be missing out on the giant ball dissection.

Alex chats up David the prosthetic guy about Arizona’s prognosis – he wants to know when she can be back at work – but tells him not to tell her he came by.

Back in class, Derek avoids demonstrating how to run a central line, awkward about the injured hand. He gives verbal instructions and the intern kills the fake patient. Not good…

Bailey consults with Meredith on her tumor surgery on her patient’s heart. Bailey tries to steal the complex surgery and Mer kicks her to the curb.

April’s talking testicle surgery with Jackson’s mom. Catherine tries to fix her up with another surgical fellow and tells her she needs to “get L-A-I-D.” Catherine starts telling her about all the amazing sex she’s been having and April is very uncomfortable.

Jackson asked why he’s on a surgery with Webber and he tells him it’s the other Avery – his mom. Webber’s like a deer in headlights.

Callie comes to pick up Arizona from prosthetics and she screams at her because she showed up early because she didn’t check her voice mail. Callie rushes out.

Mer and Cristina are on the phone and discussing how Derek must be feeling now that he can’t operate. Cristina recalls what Parker said earlier “enjoy him while you can” and realizes Thomas is going to be cut and she’ll be his replacement.

April and Jackson are trying to get jiggy, but then April tells her about his mom saying she’s having the greatest sex of her life and Jackson’s grossed out because he realizes it’s Webber. Consider that coitus interruptus.

Callie goes for a drink and sits with Owen. She pours out her heart telling him she’s having to sleep across the hall at Mark’s because Arizona’s off the rails. Owen admits he’s not been sleeping well either. I see sex in the future for these guys.

Cristina pounds on Parker’s door in the middle of the night and asks what he meant about Thomas. He tells her he’s not going to can him, but will force him into retirement. He reveals the hospital’s worried he’ll slip up and they’ll get sued. Parker says Thomas is behind the curve on medical advancements.

She’s angry because Parker wants her to be part of the team that tells Thomas why he has to go. Parker says he didn’t think she’d have a problem with it and Cristina rushes out upset.

Alex and Jackson are peeking in at the giant testicle and the guys are horrified. April describes the surgery in detail to freak the guys out. Mer says Catherine and Webber look tired (implying sex) and Jackson tells her to go to hell.

Cristina tries to get Thomas to try a newer technique. She’s trying to save him, he doesn’t realize it and is resisting.

Brian is asking how long his recovery will be – he’s still trying to avoid the reunion. He says it’s because he’s got giant balls and his friend says it’s because he doesn’t.

Mer’s tumor patient runs down the hall, gown flapping. He’s upset that she didn’t explain how tough the tumor would be to get to . She tells him she didn’t tell him complex it was because he’s emotional. He tells her in his job (security guard) he’s the tough guy. She reassures him.

Callie reveals Arizona doesn’t know Alex is the one who cut off her leg. He’s terrified he did it wrong and she won’t walk again. Back in prosthetics, David gets her fitted and tries to help her up. She screams at him. She’s very rude to him and tells him to get lost – he abandons her in the prosthetic room.

The interns ask Derek if they can skip his class and go watch Mer remove the rare tumor. He insists she’s not doing it and they insist she is.

Back in Minnesota, Parker confronts Cristina about talking Thomas into trying a more advanced technique he’s never done. She insists it was Thomas’ idea. Parker says if Thomas blows it, it will be all they need to let Thomas go.

Meredith’s in surgery with the talk too much Dr. Brooks. Owen’s watching the surgery and Derek comes in and says “my wife is bubble wrapping me” by not telling her about her cool surgery. Owen tells him he needs to be bubble wrapped – that he freaks out and goes to the woods to drink beer and grow a beard.

Derek asks Owen if Cristina’s coming back and he says now. Mer’s found the tumor and they’re trying to figure out where to start.

Now over in the testicle surgery, Bailey cracks a nuts joke. Jackson, his mom, Webber, April and Bailey all have their hands on the giant testicles and the jokes ensue.

Back in Minnesota, Thomas and Cristina are in the heart surgery. He’s cursing and upset that he’s messing up the guide wire. He wants her to take over and she doesn’t want to because she knows what’s on the line. She talks him through it and then he’s got it. She’s pleased he was able to do it.

Back in prosthetics, Arizona’s sitting abandoned but then pulls herself up to a standing position. She loses her balance and starts to fall but Alex comes in and catches her. The prosthetic comes off and Alex checks her leg. She lets him.

She asks if he’s destroyed her department and he says he’s holding it together but the new peds boss is tearing it apart. He tells her they need her back and she says she’s trying. Alex tells her Callie’s trying too.

Back in Minnesota , Parker catches up to Cristina and tells her the surgery went great. She tells him Thomas is a national treasure. Parker asks for a hook-up and she tells him she’s meeting a friend for drinks and bails.

Arizona’s looking in the mirror at herself standing there with her prosthetic on. David, the limb guy, comes in and she tells him it’s a little loose. She tells him it pinches a little and he tells her he’ll get it adjusted.

Back in the skills lab, the kiss-up shows Derek how he’s mastered the central line technique. Owen asks for a private word with Derek.

The big ball guy is happy with the successful surgery. Webber tells him the only thing they had to be embarrassed about was surgically removed. Jackson asks for a man to man with Webber. Jackson says he doesn’t want him to hurt his mother and tells him he’s watching him. Webber tells him he doesn’t want a piece of him and that he hopes he likes the view.

Webber tells Bailey that he knows what she’s thinking since he’s still married. She says it took pretty big balls (pun intended) for Jackson to confront him.

Derek tells Mer he won’t run off into the woods if she has a good surgery. She starts pouring out how fun and challenging it was. He hugs her and gives her love. They’re happy.

Callie gets Sophia down for the night and is getting ready to head to Mark’s but Arizona asks her to stay and watch TV.

Jackson and April watch Webber and Catherine leave together. He says he’s fine and she asks if he wants to have sex. Yeah, he says.

Cristina is having drinks with Thomas. He shows her the watch they gave him at his retirement party four years ago. He tells her it’s been a long time since he’s had anyone in his life who cared enough to give him grief. She’s drinking tequila and forces Thomas to have a drink with her. He orders an old fashioned and she laughs and says to make it two.

Owen shows up at Derek’s old trailer out in the woods with a cooler of beer. Think he’ll grow a beard as well since he looks to be going off the rails?

And that’s it… I’m loving Cristina’s blossoming friendship with Thomas, April and Jackson’s romance and I’m hoping Catherine sticks around to hang out with Webber!

 THE END!
