The National Enquirer broke the story days ago that Jessica Simpson and Ashlee Simpson’s Baptist pastor dad Joe Simpson has come out of the closet! And moments ago Radar Online scored an exclusive – naming Joe’s boytoy – Bryce Chandler Hill – an aspiring model three decades younger than 54 year old Joe! Radar reports Joe has been sneaking around for over a year with the barely legal boy.
An insider told the Enquirer Papa Joe got the family together a couple of months ago and broke the news to them that he’s definitely gay. The source told the Enquirer, “He told them that he’d tried to continue in his marriage to Tina, but he couldn’t go on any longer and deny the fact that he had these feelings for men. “
Tina Simpson filed for divorce a couple of weeks ago saying their marriage was “insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities.” I have to agree with Tina – if my hubby told me that man parts had started looking yummy to him – that would be a marital conflict…
I support gay rights, but wow, that is an awfully long time to be trapped in the closet. Fortunately for Joe, it was probably a very posh closet financed by managing his daughter’s careers. (Not sure how much he’s earned off of Ashlee though – that seems like a losing proposition!)
What’s even more interesting is that Radar reports that Hill and Simpson met through TJ Espinoza (a former backup dancer for Britney Spears) and good friend of both Jessica and Ashlee. After they see this news though, I can’t imagine the gals will be eager to hang with the guy who was fueling their dad’s gay hookup.
Radar’s source says, “Bryce is desperate to become famous, he’s done lots of modeling shoots and wants to become an actor. When he met Joe, he knew what a good job he had done in managing Jessica and Ashlee’s careers and wanted a piece of the pie himself. But the sad thing is, he mocks and laughs at Joe behind his back. He doesn’t care for him in the same way Joe does about him.”
Aww. Poor Joe.
For years, Joe’s been sporting a look appropriate for a father, husband and respected Baptist youth pastor. But now, judging from the new look he’s debuted – captured by TMZ today – Jessica’s dad has decided to go all in. He’s tooling around in sporty kicks, skinny jeans, a butter yellow sweater and matching butter yellow hair.
Not only can I not believe Joe’s got the balls to wear that outfit, but I think I can see them through his skinny jeans…
In retrospect, this breaking news gives me pause on a number of fronts. Prior to moving to LA, Joe was a Baptist youth minister – I can’t imagine his former flock is going to embrace his sudden life change. Baptists are not known for appreciating alternate lifestyles – and definitely not for men that work with youth.
But looking back, I do have to admit that I’m relieved that Joe’s gay – for years I was really grossed out when he would comment about the size of Jessica’s boobs, but now that I know he’s all about the boys, I feel better…
