Pop singer Katy Perry debuted her new song at the Billboard Music Awards this past weekend, and there were many of us wondering if ‘Wide Awake’ would give us any insight into her divorce from ex-husband Russell Brand. Katy sat down on the Ellen Degeneres show today – which will air tomorrow- to talk about the song, her marriage, and the her new documentary-concert film that will give fans a glimpse into the singers past 14 months of her life.
Of the documentary, Katy said: “I decided to put everything into the film,” she explains of the doc which followed the singer through the entirety of her short-lived union. “I think sometimes people think that we’re perfect and we know we’re not perfect, at all.”
“Mostly it’s about how I [achieved fame] and the ride along the way which can be bumpy but mostly it was extremely fun.”
She is adamant that everything was done in a tasteful manner and that all the footage is completely unbiased. The film, Part of Me, was created in the hopes that Katy could show exactly everything that went on between the couples 14-month union.
While there were some reports that suggest Katy had cut out Russell and details of their life together from the film, Katy set the record straight with Ellen. I personally appreciate her honestly, as long as it’s not at anyone else’s expense. Russell, for his part, sat down with the talk show host just last week admitting that he still loves his estranged wife. I wonder if a possible reconciliation is in the cards?
