A friend has told The Sun newspaper Katy is using music to help her get over Russell Brand ‘Ever since problems started to emerge, she penned her thoughts in a diary which she goes back to to draw upon for lyrics for her songs. She has always said that writing is almost a form of therapy for her and she would often be found in her dressing room on tour writing in her diary. She spent a lot of time in Hawaii over Christmas writing lyrics to two of her latest tracks‘.
It looks like the follow up to the fun, flirty, carefree Teenage Dream could be a lot darker. But will that translate into a hit album? Katy has always been known for her quirky and witty lyrics about hanging on the beach, kissing girls and partying hard. Will the fans want to hear her singing about how her marriage broke down and ended in divorce?
But that said – it did work for Pink. When she and Carey called it quits she wrote the song ‘So What’ calling her estranged husband ‘a tool‘. It was one of her biggest hits. The album that followed – Funhouse – was all about their broken relationship but still sold millions worldwide. So maybe Katy can reinvent herself thanks to Russell Brand.
