Lindsay Lohan Tweets President Obama – New Political Pundit

I applaud all attempts by any person to become politically engaged with their government. Knowledge is power, rock the vote, etc. But I really cannot condone Lindsay Lohan’s recent tweets, in which she reaches out to fans about US policy while watching the Democratic National Convention. She first tweeted that she was watching Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria speak at the convention, listing the time and encouraging others to watch.

What does this mean? Support for the fellow actress? Great. Presenting Eva as a political figure worth missing the VMAs for? Not so great. I mean, she’s an actress. I’m sure she had a great speech, and got the crowd excited while in a stunning dress and with perfectly shiny hair, but she isn’t really an authority.

Lindsay also retweeted a few quotes from current US President, Barack Obama. Hard to say if she is for or against him, but it certainly can’t be good for his image to be supported by America’s premier thief/drunk/party princess, can it? Lilo finally called Obama’s speech “short and to the point.”

Hard to say how and if the Obama campaign will respond to this. My guess is that they won’t. While power players like Lady Gaga meet with the US President to support anti-bullying legislation, Lindsay seems to be pulling at threads trying to revamp her image as one whose opinion (whether political commentary or advice on the best boutiques to steal from) matters.

Sorry chica, but I need to see a few years of sobriety and contribution to cinema before you’re going to gain back the love I once held for you, circa The Parent Trap and Mean Girls. You can’t skip honest, hard work by pretending to be politically engaged. My guess is that you’ll have your personal assistant researching which candidate is more lenient with parole violators and voting him in. Whatever you do, don’t pretend that your followers want any academic discussion from you! We don’t! Let’s stick to TMZ retweets with “I’m NOT going to be questioned over that theft!” added.
