Madonna is being accused of stealing the ‘M’ symbol for her new Truth or Dare perfume line by RJ Williams, an artist from Sydney, Australia.  Williams claims that that Madonna has breached his copyright of the symbol that he has been using for 8 years and trademarked last year.

Williams has sent a letter to Guy Oseary, Madonna’s agent demanding she stop infringing on his copyright, pay him all profits made so far on the perfume, and enter into an agreement with him for future use of his trademarked symbol.

Seems like Madonna is borrowing ideas without permission from everyone these days.  Just recently the cougar was sued by porno king Joe Francis over her ‘Girls Gone Wild,’ song.  Madonna backed right down on that one.  Borrowing without permission from people you don’t know is stealing – by the way.

The Sunday Telegraph Reports:

He’s the Sydney artist brave enough to take on the Queen of Pop.

RJ Williams, whose pieces have hung in the corridors of the Art Gallery of NSW and Museum of Contemporary Art, is taking legal action against US singer Madonna over what he claims is a breach of copyright.

The 32-year-old says the “M” symbol used on the singer’s new Truth or Dare perfume, launched last month, bears too much of a resemblance to the symbol he has been painting and using on clothing for eight years and which he trademarked last year.

“Friends from all over the world have been calling me upon seeing the Truth or Dare by Madonna campaign to express their disgust and support,” Williams told The Sunday Telegraph.

“It’s about my integrity as an artist.

“I do not think it should be able to be used by a giant cosmetics company.”

Last week, Williams sent a legal letter to Madonna’s agent, Guy Oseary, requesting the star immediately stop infringing his copyright, provide him with all profits made so far and enter into a licence with him for future use of the symbol.

The Sunday Telegraph could not contact Mr Oseary for comment.

Is Madonna guilty here?  Should she simply take what she wants from whomever she likes because she is the great Madonna?  Let us know in the comments below.

God, remember me to never come to this website ever again.

Um. No, actually, Joe Francis is a scumbag who was trying to get publicity and in the end, it was dropped – Madonna did not “back down”! And this is basically her Drowned World logo. It’s an M with the “T” from “truth of dare” incorporated, and it’s highly unikely she has heard of Williams – even nobody in Sydney has heard of him! It’ll go nowhere. Like this website.

madonna pop diva days are best forgotten, get a life aaron and find a worthwhile pop diva. There are so many artists nowadays, back when madgethebadge started there were only a few, she would have never made it in this day and age. All she was, was a  self serving promo for the music video age that was emerging, now full arrived in our world, she just got in on the ground floor back in the 1980’s.Now it would seem Lady Gaga is poised to emerge the new pop-diva queen, but if not her then someone else will surely dethrone her finally.

Actuallly her real name is Carmella Ciccone, her mothers name was Madonna, which she stole as well as the blessed mother mary’s. This site has got its facts right, you kurvkat are spellbound by her, thus yur analysis is flawed of her, No matter what she could ever do in her lifetime there are those who will never find any fault with her, that is their choice, not for all though, is it.
Must we all see Carmella Ciccone through yur rose coloured glasses in a free enteprise world frought with and endless array of pop divas, all equally deserving of their right to compete without biast. Cmon now, expand yur horizons its not the 1980’s anymore.
