Bobby Brown was subjected to sexually aggressive provocation by an obnoxious Ray J after he was divorced from Whitney Houston. It’s not easy being Bobby especially since Whitney passed away last February. The My Prerogative singer and reformed bad boy has taken heat in the past for introducing the troubled Houston to drugs which eventually led to her downfall into addiction and ultimately her shocking death. But a onetime girlfriend of Brown’s is defending the misunderstood singer and revealing there were many players in Whitney’s tragedy.
Karrine Steffans was interviewed by Vanity Fair’s contributing editor, Mark Seal, and said Whitney’s rumored boyfriend, Ray J, was always a cause of concern in her inner circle of family and friends.
Ray J was a constant in Houston’s life ever since she divorced Brown in 2006. He’s also R & B singer Brandy’s little brother and made a name for himself as the other person in Kim Kardashian’s infamous sex tape. Needless to say, there was tension between Ray J and Brown.
Steffans recalled an incident between the two men when Ray J called her one night. “He said, ‘Is Bob (Bobby Brown) still staying with you?’ I said, ‘Yeah, he’s right here.’ And Ray said, ‘Tell him I f*cked both of his chicks, you and now his wife.’”
She also told Seal. “Bob’s big thing was everyone blamed him for her downfall, but when he met her she was already using drugs. He always felt very angry about that. He told me, ‘What everybody saw wasn’t the real Whitney.’ He always said her private persona—which you saw on Being Bobby Brown—was who she really was.”
Brown echoed those sentiments in a two-part interview he did with Matt Lauer on The Today Show this week. He maintained he didn’t know Whitney was still struggling with her addictions before she died and talked about the public ups and downs in their relationship, admitting his anger over being blamed for the majority of her problems.

“It makes me feel terrible, but I know differently. I think if anyone ever knew us and spent time around us instead of time looking through the bubble, they would know how we felt about each other….I had 14 beautiful years with that woman. I can honestly say that — I love that woman — with everything I am. And I believe she loved me the same way.”
Whitney was a grown ass woman. There’s no one to blame for her fall but herself. I understand she had the voice of an angel but she was battling some demons that were around way before Bobby came into her life. I honestly feel a little bad for Bobby and how he’s being made out to be a scapegoat. He doesn’t do himself any favors with the DUI arrests, etc. but I do believe he loved her and never wished her ill.
Unfortunately for him, he had a TV show with her and it revealed their dysfunctional relationship so that’s all the public has to go on as evidence. But, I’m willing to bet when Bobby and the cameras left, there were plenty of bottom feeders who were only too willing to turn a blind eye to Whitney’s self destructive ways in order to live off the crumbs a little while longer.
