Steve Carell Franchise Building With Magic Kingdom

Steve Carell Franchise Building With Magic Kingdom

Lately I’ve been seeing Steve Carell getting into a lot more projects and ‘Magic Kingdom’ ranks at the top. For example he’s now in the middle of filming “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone” and will be returning voicing the lead role of “Despicable Me 2”, then he’ll be doing “Frank and Francis” next which will be directed by Charlie Kaufman.

But this isn’t all, he’s also going to be in “Foxcatcher” directed by Bennett Miller, a Dave Berry adaption of “Lunatic”, “The Dogs of Babel” and quite a bit more.

Now, we can also add “Magic Kingdom for Sale – SOLD!”, it’s a comedic-fantasy type of film. This film is a film adaption of a book of the same title which is by Terry Brooks; it’s being produced by Akiva Goldsman and will be a family friendly kind of film. The plot is about a Lawyer named Ben Holiday who one day stumbles across and advertisement offering The Magic Kingdom of Landover for a very low price of just $1 million. Ben contacts Mr. Meeks, a mysterious man, to make the transaction and then heads over to his new bought property. Sadly he finds out that his life is going to get much more difficult from this point, as he struggles trying to unite his subjects against a demon.

The script will be written by Craig Wright, the film was supposed to be directed by Stephen Sommers but he left the project. Now the film has no director today, but if everything works out, Steve Carell could find himself leading a long and successful franchise, due to the fact that Magic Kingdom for Sale – SOLD! is the first book out of six in the series.

Do you think Steve is taking on too much work?  Is he spreading his talents a bit too thinly?  Can he maintain his intensity and quality or will he become overexposed?  Could it be that Stevie boy just wants to cash in?  Let us know what you think in the comments below.
