Teen Mom star Amber Portwood has been locked up in jail since December 16th for violating her probation. No, the young mom just doesn’t seem to learn. Amber is facing 25 months jail time for her previous domestic battery charge, in addition to 36 months for her new possession case. Girl’s in trouble!
Whatever will we do? The MTV star has been in front of the cameras since having her daughter Leah as a teen. It appears her ‘fame’ has been nothing but detrimental.
There might be some light ahead of the tunnel, as Portwood’s lawyer Evan Broderick revealed that Amber has pleaded guilty to violating her probation and being in possession of a controlled substance, and that he’s confident that a court-mandated drug program will help her avoid more serious jail time. If she gets in.
According to her lawyer: “We tendered an agreement to the court where she’ll go to drug court in lieu of taking a conviction of the new case, she completes drug court, and she’ll get to have that case reduced or at least petition to have the case reduced down to a misdemeanor. If she violates though, she will have a five year exposure to prison.”
The program is approximately 1-3 years, and Amber’s fate will be determined by the courts. The judge will review her case and situation February 9th, and if admitted they will “most likely let her out jail.”
Here’s hoping Amber, my advice is to lay off the reality TV and focus on getting the rehab you need to take care of your kid. Lay off the prescripts home girl!
