Teen Mom Amber Portwood Gets 5 Year Sentence, But Could Get Probation

Teen Mom star Amber Portwood, 21,  has been in jail since before the holidays and if things don’t go her way she could be spending more time in jail.  Amber struck a plea deal where she will be sentenced to five years for drug possession.  In the plea deal Amber must plead guilty to one count apiece of possession of a controlled substance and violation of a previous probation.  However Amber does not want to go to jail and there is a possibility she will get probation.

TMZ has the scoop: According to the deal, law enforcement sources say Amber can stay out of the big house …  provided she completes a court-mandated drug rehabilitation program.  The entire case will be dismissed if Portwood successfully graduates from the Madison County Drug Court program — but we’re told, if she screws up …  she’ll be tossed in the pokey immediately, no questions asked.

Amber is on probation for assaulting her ex-fiancé Gary Shirley, the father of her 2-year-old daughter Leah.  Amber was hospitalized in June in Indiana after an apparent suicide attempt.  The attempt came after she fought on the phone with Gary.

Amber remains in custody and a hearing is set for February 6th, 2012.
