American Idol Season 12 Auditions: Zoanette Johnson Belts National Anthem with a Dash of Infectious Craziness!

American Idol this season is, to say the least, a giant bag of crazysauce. The auditions held in Oklahoma definitely proved that once again. Let’s be honest, most people watch Idol for the auditions, so they can see who’s brave enough to step into the limelight even if they don’t have one vocal cord in their body that can carry a tune. Granted, some people bring stellar singing chops to the stage. After all, that is the goal of the competition, to discover the world’s next best. But as we travel the road toward amazingness, sometimes we have to witness the Um-What-Are-You-Doing-On-That-Stage individuals.

When Idol continued their auditions, the judges were greeted by a very enthusiastic and patriotic singer, Zoanette Johnson. The singer came in ready to knock the National Anthem out of the ball park. Parts of it aren’t horrible. But some parts aren’t amazing either. It’s so incredibly dramatic that it definitely makes you think uh-what’s-going-on-is-this-real? Yes. Yes, yes it is real. And yes, yes the judges did put her through to the next round.

The song was apparently sung to celebrate President Obama and, after all the over-the-top ridiculosness, she says a few incoherent statements — something to the extent of President Obama better invite her to the White House sometime soon. This contestant is really quite hard for me to describe, so perhaps you better just watch the video for yourself. As Randy describes her, she’s just a whole party by herself. Perhaps a party. Not sure if it’s the best kind of party though.

Nicki, who’s been off her rocker lately as well, says that she’s obsessed with her. “Me too,” responds Zoanette. Yikes. What a whirlwind. Actually, I think a tornado is a more appropriate term. LOL. At least she’s having a good time, right?

Help me, people. I still don’t know how I feel about The Zoanette Johnson National Anthem *so confused*
