R&B singer Bobby V (real name Robert Wilson, formerly called Bobby Valentino) is the latest in a long line of celebrities to have a video for sale. TMZ reported today that there is a video for sale featuring the “Slow Down” singer and an unnamed video vixen.
You would think Bobby would know better than to film himself having sex. A leaked sex tape (or one made on purpose such as Farrah Abraham’s tape) has helped a few careers take off, despite the huge scandal and embarrassing criticism of the tape from viewers. It can also follow you around long after the scandal dies down.
Years after her sex tape was leaked to the public Kim Kardashian is still known largely for her video with then boyfriend Ray J. Barbara Walters even asked her about it recently when she interviewed the Kardashian and Jenner families. Sales of Kim’s sex tape sky rocketed on her wedding day to Kris Humphries. Kim was not proud of that fact, even though it meant a lot of money in her pocket through the deal she made with Vivid Entertainment. On the upside, Kim got a lot of lucrative offers to show off her nude body and enormous ass. Kim was a cover girl for Playboy with a multiple page spread. She also did several modeling shoots nude.
On the other hand, a having a sex tape could stall your career. Former Girl Next Door Kendra Wilkenson’s video came back to bite her years after it was made. Kendra was mortified to find out her partner shopped around their tape. She also had to face embarrassment with her family. Kendra’s sex tape was released as she was riding high with her reality show Kendra, and now no-one cares about her.
TMZ is also reporting Bobby may not know that the tape is being shopped around. So far there is no mention of it on his Facebook page or his official website.
