Much like Twilight and The Hunger Games before it, Fifty Shades of Grey will forever change the lives of the actors that are chosen to star in the franchise. Fifty Shades is the latest book to film adaptation that has been followed by an enormous amount of buzz in the media, and it is almost guaranteed to be a massive hit when it releases next August. Although the actors have yet to be chosen, casting announcements have been followed by the kind of fan fervor that we haven’t seen since the early days of Twilight and The Hunger Games. There are endless fan cast lists and articles discussing the many, many choices for Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, the leading duo in the film.
But what happens when the roles finally do get cast? Well, let’s just say that whatever privacy these actors had before they got cast, they might as well kiss it goodbye. They will be stalked, they will be followed, they will be threatened, they will be sent love letters, their faces will be tattooed on people’s bodies, and their faces will be plastered all over pop culture news practically every day for the next several years. Think Twilight, except with double the intensity.
Why is that? Well, because they actually have sex with each other in Fifty Shades of Grey. I can only imagine the fan obsession that will result in the couple, and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. There’s also the fact that much like Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, fans will desperately wish for their Christian and Anastasia to get together in real life, and the Internet might break if that were to happen.
On the plus side, who ever is cast will become household names, which will mean that they will be able to make whatever movie they want. But the question is – will it be worth it? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
