Gisele Bundchen, otherwise known as half of one of the most beautiful couples in the world, has officially been given the title of the world’s highest paid model, according to Forbes. Forbes is about as legitimate as it gets when it comes to these kinds of numbers, but you know what else is interesting? The fact that Gisele makes SO much that the difference between her and #2 on the list, Miranda Kerr, is a LOT!
Gisele made $42 million dollars last year, beating out 2012’s highest paid actress Angelina Jolie‘s earnings of $32 million. Miranda, on the other hand, made a relatively measly $7.2 million [man, I wish I was able to call $7.2 measly in reference to my job].
Most of Gisele’s earnings seem to be coming from modeling contracts with a plethora of high-profile brands, including Pantene, Oral-B, Chanel [which usually pays a whopper], and she also made a smart business decision when she decided to invest in a local Brazilian footwear company, Grendene. She reportedly earned most of her earnings through the company, and its cosmetic line, Sejaa – both of which are very popular in Brazil and internationally.
Again, if we look at Miranda’s relatively low earnings, they seem to have all come from campaigns with companies like Mango and Quantus. However, in this case it was Gisele’s business acumen and not her modeling skill that earned her the top spot, which is respectable. She earned it the difficult way, taking a risk and with it paying off.
Coincidentally, or maybe not coincidentally, Miranda released a picture of herself ‘duck facing’ on Twitter after the list was revealed on Forbes. Maybe she’s sending a message? Yay, she was second on the list, or damn, she was second on the list? What do you guys think? Let us know in the comments.
