Grimm RECAP 10/25/13: Season 3 Premiere “The Ungrateful Dead”

GRIMM returns tonight for its third season premiere called, “The Ungrateful Dead.”  The show is a drama series inspired by the classic Grimm Brother’s Fairy Tales. After Portland homicide detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli, “Turn the Beat Around”) discovers he’s descended from an elite line of criminal profilers known as Grimms, he increasingly finds his responsibilities as a detective at odds with his new responsibilities as a Grimm.

On tonight’s show a panicked Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch), Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell), and Rosalee (Bree Turner) enlist Hank’s (Russell Hornsby) help in fending off a zombie hoard while trying to figure out what happened to Nick (David Giuntoli).

Knowing the truth, Captain Renard (Sasha Roiz) takes measures to help rescue Nick from the clutches of his brother, Eric (guest star James Frain). Elsewhere, along with the help of the mysterious Stefania (guest star Shohreh Aghdashloo), Adalind (Claire Coffee) finds herself facing her most gruesome task yet in her effort to regain her Hexenbiest abilities. Reggie Lee also stars.

RECAP: A man leaves a hotel and enters a car, it then cuts to Juliette and a man getting into a care with a bunch of zombies of some sort running towards them; Juliette is screaming for Nick, but he’s no where to be found. Nick is there, though he’s not with them; he finds the man who’s responsible for the walking dead and begins to chase him down. Now Nick and the man are fighting against each other, they crash into one of the giant shipping boxes. Monroe is driving the car that’s supposed to be the escape vehicle, with a bunch of undead hanging onto it. Now Nick is inside the big shipping box, looking for the man, but instead he finds the his pass port in there. Nick is hit in the eyes by this green goo, that was spit by this half man half puffer fish looking creature. Monroe and the two women are driving around the shipment area with a bunch of zombies hanging onto the car, Monroe is trying to get them off; he decides to drive fast and then brake hard to get them to fly off, it works; but there are more zombies chasing right behind them. It cuts to Sean looking around the same are that they’re in. It then cuts to Nick being trapped in a crate, or coffin looking thing; it looks like he’s going to be shipped somewhere. Monroe’s car gets stuck, so him and the two ladies decide to make a run for it on foot; they arrive at this vehicle that is used for heavy lifting, they climb up it to get on top of the giant boxes. Sean gets inside one of the giant shipment boxes to find the men taking the container which is carrying Nick in away. Sean follows them as they leave and sees them putting the container in a big black van, the van then drives off. Sean turns back and ends up fighting a couple of the undead on his own. Monroe decides to fight back against the undead on top of the shipment container. Sean looks like he’s struggling a little, but then it cuts to Wu in the police station, Hank appears from the door and they greet each other and they talk about how things have finally calmed down; but then Hank receives a call from Juliette and she briefs him on the problem quickly. Hank and Wu have more wack jobs to deal with and decide to get to the shipping container yard to help out.

Sean is being choked, but he then unleashes his true power, he ends up kicking the zombie’s asses easily; Monroe decides to turn into a were wolf and fight the zombies off; just as they finish up the police arrive at the scene of the crime, they believe that the problems are due to a certain kind of drugs. Juliette tells Hank that Nick is some where in the yard at that they need to find him, Sean is still fighting the zombies, but he soon wins and picks up a cellphone. Sean picks up the phone and answers who was calling it, turns out it’s Nick’s phone and he tells Hank that his brother has taken Nick. Sean arrives at where Hank and the rest are yet, Sean tells them all to get in the can so they can get to the airport before his brother ships Nick out of the country. Sean goes onto talking about how his brother put Nick into a coffin to ship him somewhere else. It cuts to the airport where Nick is the coffin, they’re beginning to load him into the plane. Hank calls the police and lets them know about what’s going on at the airport. The police arrive at the airport and catch the man in the top hat, the police ask for identification and the man apply agrees to in a way where he spits poison into their eyes. It cuts to a woman who just pulled out a heart from an old woman, they then place it inside of a box; it’s still beating though it’s not connected to anything. Apparently, she’s done this as a sort of ritual to bring back someone named Aidlind. Hank and the rest arrive at the airport, they find the cops on the ground unconscious and the plane just left the airport. They didn’t make it time, now Nick is being shipped somewhere.

Juliette wants the plane to stop, she asks Sean to do something; they want to know where they’re going to be taking Nick, Sean believes that his brother might decide to take Nick to Austria. Juliette slaps Sean, because she wants to know whats’s going to happen to Nick. It cuts to the plane, where the black man in the top hat is enjoying a nice glass of alcohol and a smoke from his cigar, he notices that the coffin is being hit from the inside. It turns out that the old woman who committed the ritual; she has gotten a young girl to come in. Turns out they need this young woman to cut off the hands and feet, along with the eyes to complete the ritual. The coffin is now having dents in it the shape of fists, it turns out that Nick was able to easily break free; but the man in the top hat spits in his face. This time though the green goo does nothing to Nick. Nick is now fighting the top hatted man, and punches the pilot in the face for fun. The young women completes the ritual with cutting off the feet, hands and the eyes. Now the women needs to take a walk in the woods to complete the ritual, they make their way to a field of red flowers and the old woman opens the lid of the container the heart was in, it flies and lands into a certain place. Now the woman must dig, she begins to dig pathetically. The co-pilot is trying to take control of the plane, while Nick and the puffer fish man are fighting in the cock pit with him. The plane ends up crashing, the co-pilot didn’t have a chance with two people fighting in the cock pit.

Juliette and another woman are creating a cure for the zombified people, Monroe mentions how they should go to Austria and go get Nick. Bree mentions that they’re up against the royal family, but Monroe is still determined to getting Nick back. Bree mentions how they should make the cure an inhalant, to cure everyone who’s become zombified; it would make curing a huge amount of people far easier. It cuts to the police station, Sean is making a call to a man and who told him how the Grimm was taken by his brother, Sean wants his brother dealt with this time. The man on the other side of the phone looks quite worried about the situation, Hank enters Sean’s office to tell him where Nick is going to be arriving. The plane is heading to Europe, Sean wants to deal with his brother alone, but Hank wants to help because he wants to get Nick. The plane ended up being completely destroyed after crashing, the puffer fish man is knocked out, but the co-pilot is trying to get out, but before he can Nick steps on him and walks away from the wreckage. Wu and the rest of the police officers are storing all of the zombies into one of the shipment containers. Juliette, Bree and Monroe arrive with the cure to treat the zombies. Monroe mentions how they should make some noise to distract the zombies on the other end, Monroe creates a distraction, the others throw in the gas to cure the people inside. Their plan worked perfectly, now they need to wait for when the cure kicks in. Hank receives a call, the caller mentioned how Nick’s plane crashed. Hank runs over to Sean and updates him on what’s going on, it cuts to Nick in the forest looking around; he see’s the headlights of a car and goes towards that direction.

Nick i running through the forest some more, because that’s clearly getting him some where. He finds a store of some sort out in the middle of no where. The police decide to open up the shipment container full of people, they are no longer in that zombified state. Monroe receives a call from Hank, Hank tells Monroe that the plane containing Nick had crashed. Juliette wants to no where it crashed, so she can go find Nick. Nick arrives at a bar of some sort. Hank and Sean arrive at the scene of the airplane crash, they find the body of the puffer fish man who looks not so alive anymore; they pick up Nick’s fake passport. Sean knows that Nick is infected and on the move, he wants everyone to be careful. Nick is seen looking into the bar, he decides to enter it; he sees a bunch of people enjoying themselves, he can hear very clearly, people are looking at him and thinking he’s high on something. A man gets in Nick’s way, Nick decides to take him down with one strike, but that’s not enough for Nick; he goes and takes on the entire bar. Nick goes as far as hitting a woman in the face, Nick is not a man you want to screw around with; a man tries to hit Nick from behind with a weapon , but it back fires and Nick beats him up and then throws another man over the bar. Someone pulls a knife on Nick, but that wasn’t a bright idea Nick decides to take it and stab him.

The ambulance and the police are working their magic at the plane wreckage, Juliette, Monroe and Bree arrive at the scene of the wreckage, they talk to Hank and Sean; they find out about what’s going on with Nick. The bartender is in his bar with a shotgun, looking around for Nick; the man who destroyed everything. Nick comes out of nowhere and takes the gun from him, he then finds his reflection in the mirror and throws the shotgun at it. Hank and the rest arrive at the bar where Nick is kicking ass, Monroe smells that Nick is in their. Hank, Sean and Monroe enter the bar to confront the infected Nick. The three men see all the injured people in the bar, they’re looking around; Monroe is sniffing him out and is going to try and follow him. Sean wants to make it quick, because the longer he’s left infected the worse its going to get. Now we see the blonde woman, digging, she’s finally done and has to put int the hands and feet into the earth along with the box containing the heart. Now it must be buried using her hands, she successfully does so and stands up. Now they must wait and see if the blonde woman is accepted, nothing happens for a while. Finally though the ground begins to rot before their very eyes, what used to be a beautiful field of flowers is now all brown and dead. It seems that the blonde woman was accepted, the ritual is a success and now she’s got to gather the dead flowers. The police arrive at the bar, Sean leaves and tells the police to check the perimeter to find Nick. Monroe is sniffing out for Nick along with Hank following him; Monroe loses him for a second, but then finds him again. Nick is shown walking in the forest aimlessly not knowing where he’s going, he can hear a bunch of people at a house.
