Honey Boo Boo and Mama Boo Boo Become Authors – Pulitzer Prize Soon?

Honey Boo Boo the author? The Atlanta Journal and Constitution is reporting South Georgia’s most famous resident will be putting out her first cook book and there may also be a book tour in the works! “We have a book to be released this summer along with a TLC cookbookMama Boo Boo June Shannon announced via Facebook earlier this week.

Perez Hilton mentioned that one of the books, available for pre-order on Amazon, will be called How to Honey Boo Boo: The Complete Guide on How to Redneckognize the Honey Boo Boo in You. Perez says this book will be written by Honey Boo Boo experts and not the Toddlers and Tiaras break out star herself. I say boo boo to that! Honey Child and the family’s fans will want to hear directly from her.  It’s Boo Boo and family’s charm that drives their television show to great ratings and acquiring world wide fans. You have to experience Honey’s world, analyze it!

Television and pop culture’s interest in the south, mostly Atlanta, re-ignited about eight years ago. Atlanta came into the reality television spotlight starting with Bravo’s Being Bobby Brown in 2005.  Next in 2008 The Real Housewives of Atlanta debuted on Bravo, and it is the most popular of the Housewives franchise.  Several more Atlanta centered shows have followed. We now have Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, Bad Girls Club Atlanta, Big Rich Atlanta and most recently Married to Medicine.  Here Comes Honey Boo Boo takes us to another part of Georgia, away from the big city glamour.

Not everyone is on board with Boo Boo and Atlanta centered reality shows.  Former Atlanta radio DJ Jimmy Baron told the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s Rodney Ho “These shows are geared for people in the North and California to watch so they can make fun of the South.” Cheryl Harris of Woodstock, Ga told Rodney “I have spent years telling my Northern friends that we don’t eat road kill and [dispelling] other Southern stereotypes, they were starting to believe me. Then Honey Boo Boo came along and wiped away all of that hard work!

I feel Honey Boo Boo’s appeal has nothing to do with making fun of the people in the southern part of the United States. Her and her family’s popularity  comes from being  a real family. Their life and colorful language (You’d better Redneckignize!) are entertaining.  Honey Child is a breath of fresh air from all the fighting and dysfunction  you see in other reality shows based in Georgia.  I’m not sure what to expect from How to Honey Boo Boo: The Complete Guide on How to Redneckognize the Honey Boo Boo in You. I’m guessing there will be some etiquette tips and glossary of sayings.

What do you think? Will you buy Honey Boo Boo’s book?
