I think perhaps you misunderstood what Wayne David meant. You are right that if the baby is a girl she would be known as Princess X of Cambridge until her grandfather becomes King and her father is The Prince of Wales. Then she would be Princess X of Wales. HOWEVER, while the Heir Apparent may be made The Prince of Wales, there is no precedent for an Heiress Apparent being Princess of Wales IN HER OWN RIGHT. If the oldest child of the Monarch (if it’s a man) is Prince of Wales, then it’s only fair that if the oldest child is a woman she should be Princess of Wales, right? (A title which hitherto has only been for the wife of The Prince of Wales). I believe this is was David meant to fix. William’s daughter wouldn’t be Princess of Wales until her father is The King, by which time Camilla (if still alive) would be Princess Camilla, The Princess Consort. So no one would be taking any titles away from anybody. You are right that Kate will be the next Princess of Wales when her husband becomes Prince of Wales.
