Kayden Stephenson "I Wish" American Idol 12 Audition (VIDEO)

Tonight was the third and final week of auditions for American Idol 12.  Tonight’s final audition was held in Oklahoma City and we had one of the most memorable and inspiring auditions of the season.  16-year-old Kayden Stephenson auditioned singing Stevie Wonder‘s, “I Wish” and he was a really adorable kid.

Kayden told the viewers that he had a terminal illness, Cystic Fibrosis.  Cystic Fibrosis is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder that affects most critically the lungs, and also the pancreas, liver, and intestine. It is characterized by abnormal transport of chloride and sodium across an epithelium, leading to thick, viscous secretions.

Even though Kayden’s said his life expectancy is only 35, Kayden does not let it get him down.  He lives each day to the fullest.  Kayden has wanted to audition for Idol for a long time and now that he turned 16 and he qualified he auditioned.  Kayden told the judges he had been singing since he was four-years-old and being an American Idol had always been his dream.

Nikki loved his voice he reminded her of a baby Michael Jackson.  Nikki was inspired by him.  She went on to say,  “You are so unique. I think so many children would be inspired by you. I’m really inspired by you myself.”  Mariah was beyond inspired.  Randy loved him.  Keith thought he was fantastic.   Mariah told him she thought girls would fall on the floor when he walks in.  She told him she was ready to make a record with him already. They all voted and it was a big YES!!  Kayden is going to Hollywood.

Take a look at the video below of Kayden singing Stevie Wonder’s “I Wish.”  We look forward to seeing Kayden in Hollywood!
