Kirstie Alley Says Mentally Ill People Are Slaves To Medicine – Scientology Freak Slams Abilify

Kirstie Alley Says Mentally Ill People Are Slaves To Medicine – Scientology Freak Slams Abilify

Oh how I love when any Scientologist decides to take issue with any type of psychiatric medication. The quotes and commentary are usually ridiculous and this time around it’s Kirstie Alley that needs a muzzle. Before we totally go here, I will say that I absolutely don’t think that meds are the answer to every situation and I’m sure that there are many people who use pills as a band aid rather than as a component of treatment. Still though, Kirstie’s Twitter rant is just epic. Apparently she saw a commercial for Abilify and that’s what sent her spinning,

“HOW is it legal to INTICE people to down TWO mind altering drugs by using cartoon characters to depict the DRUGS? ABILIFY. Big PHARMA not marketing to youth? ABILIFY… Talking umbrella, cute little smiley pill, while lethal side effects like suicide rattled off. I have a great name for a psych drug NOT targeted at children…Broccoli-ifi.”

There ya go Kirstie, insult the product that may actually be improving or even saving the lives of multitudes of people and then take a side shot at parents who medicate kids. If broccoli fixed things then I’m pretty sure that her rantings would be even crazier because I’m pretty sure a piece of broccoli hasn’t landed on Kirstie’s plate since her Jenny Craig days.

Anyway, of course there are potentially negative side effects to Abilify, as there are to any other medication. They run down the ridiculous list to make sure people are aware of the broad spectrum of possible problems.  It’s clear to me that Kirstie has had the great fortune of never having a close friend or family member that truly suffers from mental illness. No one wants to have to take pills for anything (unless you’re a junkie but that’s a different issue) but when they are the difference between being completely out of touch with reality and functioning in the real world I think many are grateful for the advancement in psychiatry.

When Kirstie and her pals make statements like this it makes them look like the out of touch and crazy ones, don’t you think? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!

Well, I don’t agree with any fanaticism, but I do think that Abilify’s marketing is way over the top. The drug does have severe side effects – and it’s being marketed like a Saturday-morning cartoon. It’s a bit creepy.

I think given such low understanding of reality, these pills do the best they can to target a specific problem in the mental illness world. I myself have been diagnosed with a mental illness and every med I’ve ever been on has had unacceptable side effects that realistically make me more ill due to the suffering and torment I endure on them, no joke! and yes abilify was one I’ve been put through.
