Is that what it finally took for Kristen Stewart to get a job? A publicized reunion with Robert Pattinson? Even if that’s not the case, the timing is certainly coincidental. She’s spotted out with Rob, and then a day later, it’s announced that she has landed not one, but two new jobs. She will be playing a minor role in Tim Blake Nelson‘s indie drama Anesthesia and will be re-teaming with Jesse Eisenberg for American Ultra, about a stoner couple who’s on the run from the government. Perfect casting, pretty much.
Maybe producers realized that Twilight fans were still very vocal, and not all of them had abandoned Kristen in the wake of the trampire cheating scandal. Maybe they thought that a public reunion with Robert would help restore her good will with the public. Kristen did manage to open Snow White and the Huntsman to a very high figure, especially for a non-sequel, and statistics showed that a good number of the people that turned up for the opening weekend were young women, i.e. likely Twilight fans. However, that was before the Rupert Sanders cheating scandal leaked and went viral, and since then, Kristen’s stayed off the radar. Apart from Breaking Dawn: Part 2, which still did gangbusters at the box office, Kristen’s On The Road barely made an impact, and she’s shot two very low-key indie movies since then.
You know, this might just be Kristen’s choice. She might have purposefully stayed away from studio films, and gone back to her indie roots. Everything she’s doing right now suggests that, and it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise. With the added speculation, it will be easier for her to stay off the radar with indie films, and she won’t have to face the intense public scrutiny that came with Twilight. And she sure doesn’t need the money.
