Being a teen is hard for most of us, but Kylie Jenner may have it a bit harder than the rest of us. Sure, she’ll never have money trouble, has traveled the world, and can do virtually any job she wants because of her fame, but at what cost? The 15-year-old model is the youngest daughter in the expansive Jenner/ Kardashian family, and the decisions of her siblings and mom Kris Jenner are destroying her life. We know the girls side with dad Bruce Jenner in the divorce drama, and Kris is reportedly pushing Kendall Jenner to release her own sex tape when she turns 18! But the drama doesn’t just hurt her family life—being forced into fame is compounding the pain of friendship break ups that are so common at Kylie’s age.
Despite the abuse that swirls around her, Kylie has managed to keep a logical perspective, and may be the smartest member of her family! The young model shared her new philosophy on her Instagram account. “At this age, everything is changing. Day by day we don’t notice, but just look back over the past year and you will realize everything has. People you thought were going to be there forever aren’t, and people you never imagined you’d be speaking to are now some of your closest friends. Life makes little sense, and the more we grow the less sense it makes. So make the most of it now, before it all changes once again, because in the near future, all of this is just going to be a memory.” Surprisingly poetic and coherent for a girl who was pulled out of high school so she can work more!
We’ve said it before: Kylie is more privileged than most, and does seem to get caught up in the thrill of excessive wealth and petty drama of reality TV. But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have huge potential as a human, and these small glimpses she shares give me hope. Wouldn’t it be incredible if she woke up one day and decided that the artifice of celebrity is boring, and joins UNICEF or something? We hope that mom Kris’ influence hasn’t totally brainwashed her! Will Kylie quit her famous family (maybe take Bruce with her, since he doesn’t seem to love it?) and do something more meaningful with her life? Or is she just as superficial and self-absorbed as the rest of them?
