Liberace’s Former Lover Scott Thorson Jailed For Extreme Meth Use: How Much Longer Does He Have?

39th Deauville Film Festival - 'Behind the Candelabra' Photocall

Liberace‘s former lover, Scott Thorson, has been jailed for violating his probation after testing positive for meth. Thorson was made famous by Matt Damon in the HBO film Behind the Candelabra (featuring Michael Douglas as Liberace), which earned raves across the board. Although Liberace himself died many years ago, Thorson has been giving tell-all interviews to anyone that will listen.

In July, Thorson was given two months worth of probation for identity theft and burglary, but he’s now back in prison for violating his probation. Is that really a surprise, when you consider his history?

Thorson’s relationship with Liberace has been well documented and covered extensively, not least because of the attention Behind the Candelabra garnered. However, although Thorson likes to blame his drug use and behavior on Liberace, others have stated that Thorson has always been inclined towards misbehavior. Of course, Thorson was incredibly young and impressionable when he first met Liberace, and that definitely had a significant impact on him – but enough to cause him to go on drugs for the rest of his life, and resort to identity theft and burglary?

At 54 years old, he’s not going to be able to continue his drug use for much longer, especially at this rate. Meth is one of the more dangerous and addicting drugs available, and eventually, he’ll just waste away if he can’t stop himself. It’s harder to access meth in jail, so he might actually get some time to heal his body – but I don’t think Thorson’s the type of person that can be rehabilitated now anyway.
