I think there were some shock waves that rippled through the bajillion Dancing with the Stars fans when they received confirmation that resident hothead, Maksim Chermkovskiy wouldn’t be taking his spot in the ballroom this season. At first his exit seemed abrupt causing wide speculation that it was just another of his tantrum-throwing bids for attention. After his exit was confirmed an ABC spokesperson made it sound more like it was the network’s doing then Maks’ decision saying,
“We frequently rotate the professional dancers, so it is not unusual for them to rest a cycle. As we consider who will be matched up each season, there are a lot of factors that dictate which couples make the best pairings. We appreciate each of our dancers dedication to the show, so this is a very difficult decision.”
Now in the latest issue of OK! Magazine Maks claims that he is taking a breather by choice to act and direct (what?) and for fans not to worry because he’s likely to return next season. He is actually inked to a contract that runs through 2015 so I’m sure he will be returning. I love how he was basically left in the dust this season in favor of two new pros and he channeled his anger to make it look like he left in a huff over something else! Sure Maks was indeed pissed off, because ABC decided to sideline him and he had to put his own spin on it super fast.
