Mariah Carey Doesn't Care About Human Rights: Manager Jermaine Dupri Refuses To Apologize For Angola Dictator Show

Man, Mariah Carey and her manager might have finally crossed a line. Mariah recently drew intense criticism after performing at a concert for Angola’s dictator, Jose Eduardo dos Santos. Even though the concert drew intense criticism considering Santos is considered a power-hungry and cruel despot, Mariah’s team is refusing to apologize for booking it.

Mariah’s manager, Jermaine Dupri, was the one who arranged the whole thing, and he’s refusing to accept any responsibility. Mariah got paid $1 million for the concert, and he no doubt got a handsome cut of that, and now he wants nothing more to do with it. In a  phone call to the Human Rights Foundation president the other day, Jermaine explained, “I don’t feel like we have done anything wrong. The president of the United States took pictures with this guy’s daughter and congratulated this man on his many years of being in office. If he can rub shoulders with these people than why is Mariah Carey being accused of doing something wrong?”

Of course, this isn’t even the first time Mariah’s performed for a dictator. In 2008, she performed for Libyan dictator Moammar Khadafy, and at the time, she claimed that she would start taking more responsibility for her bookings. Um yeah, looks like that didn’t go exactly as planned.

Anyway, Dupri comes up with a whole bunch of other excuses, including claiming that he didn’t do any research on the country, bla bla bla. It’s all just a smokescreen because he doesn’t want to accept responsibility for screwing up and making a big mistake – again. I mean, come on! He’s not going to send his biggest client to another country for a concert without doing any research. He knew what he was sending Mariah into, and I’d wager that she knew as well. Obviously, they’re not going to say that now, but they totally knew. And the fact that he’s even defending his decision says a lot about his decision-making process, and his penchant for putting profits over anything else.

Dupri also claims that Mariah also ‘is not sorry‘, and she has ‘no interest‘ in human rights matters. Wow. Either he’s in big trouble with Mariah right now, or she’s just become #1 on human rights activists’ shit list.
