We all know who to blame for the twerking craze that has taken over the country. According to a new report from In Touch Weekly, a woman who calls herself Amazon Ashley is taking responsibility for teaching Miley Cyrus her now infamous twerking dance moves.
Amazon Ashley is a 6-foot-7-inches burlesque dancer who explains that she met Miley at a dance club and trained her in the art of twerking. She tells In Touch, “We didn’t think people would be talking about it on CNN. She’s taken it to a whole new level. The student has become the teacher!”
Apparently, Miley gave Ashley a cameo in her music video for We Can’t Stop, as well as invited her to perform alongside her in her VMA performance. I can’t seem to spot Ashley in either the music video or the VMA performance, so I don’t know if this all made up or if I’m not looking closely enough.
Obviously, there are a billion famewhores in Los Angeles, and Amazon Ashley could just be one of them. It’s not like she was the first person to discover twerking, considering that it was a popular dance move before Miley took it to the VMAs. However, with Miley’s performance and the recent Internet craze, it’s gone to a whole different level.
Miley also hasn’t publicly thanked anyone for teaching her about twerking, which doesn’t necessarily mean anything. Maybe she doesn’t want anybody to steal the spotlight from her, or maybe she just doesn’t care. But for now, regardless of whether it originated from Amazon Ashley or someone else, twerking is here to stay – unfortunately.
What do you guys think of Miley’s VMA performance or twerking in general? Do you hate it and wish it would it go away? Or do you think it’s fun? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
