Neil Patrick Harris Steals The Show As The Host Of The 2013 Tony Awards (VIDEO)

Neil Patrick Harris opened the 2013 Tony Awards with bon-bon bitching and raucous applause. Harris, being all sarcastic and whatnot, left no Broadway scandal unturned. “I wouldn’t be here if someone else hadn’t passed on hosting. So special thanks to Shia LaBeouf for this opportunity,” Harris joked. This jab followed in the wake of LaBeouf’s sudden departure from Orphans, a Broadway show about “two poor Philadelphia brothers who plan to kidnap a wealthy man.” LaBeouf cited “creative differences” – or in other words, egotistical bitchiness – as the reason for quitting.

However, Harris received the biggest laugh when he dipped his toes into the infamous Les Miserables-singing-pond. The brilliant-but-flawed stage musical turned movie received harsh critique for the actors’ singing abilities, and in true comedic fashion, Harris commented, “Can I have my ‘Tom Hooper Les Miz closeup’ please? On Broadway we don’t need extreme closeups to prove we’re singing live.

The red carpet was also filled to the brim with Hollywood’s elite. Rita Wilson wore a velvety blue dress by Tom Ford, while Cyndi Lauper – in all of her crazy glory – donned a Valentino creation. Anna Kendrick also appeared in a blue creation by Donna Karan Atelier, while Scarlett Johansson stole the show in her sleek, black number by Saint Laurent. However, the fashionable females and their partners weren’t the only cameos at the Tony Awards. Mike Tyson, the infamous boxer with the ear fetish, also had a quick appearance during Harris’ spectacular performance.

All of the credit goes to Doogie Howser. Who would have thought, right?
