Once Upon a Time RECAP 3/10/13: Season 2 Episode 16 “The Miller's Daughter”

ABC’s hit fantasy drama ONCE UPON A TIME returns tonight with a brand new episode called, “The Miller’s Daughter.” On tonight’s show Cora’s desire to take Rumplestiltskin’s place as the dark one takes one step closer to becoming reality as he lays dying, and Mary Margaret is once again tempted by Dark Magic.  Did you watch the last episode? On last week’s episode when she discovered Cora and Regina’s plan to find and take possession of Rumplestiltskin’s dagger, Mary Margaret, with the aid of David and Mother Superior, made it her mission to find it first; and while Mr. Gold continued his quest in New York to reunite with son Bae, Hook devised a plan to rid himself of a crocodile. Meanwhile, in the fairytale land that was, the Blue Fairy offered Snow White an unconventional enchantment that could help save her dying mother, Queen Eva.

On tonight’s show Cora’s desire to rid herself of Rumplestiltskin in order to take his place as The Dark One takes one step closer to becoming reality as she and Regina try to overpower a dying Mr. Gold, and Mary Margaret is once again tempted by dark magic. Meanwhile, in the fairytale land that was, Rumplestiltskin agrees to offer his services to a younger Cora – for a price – when the king calls her bluff and orders her to actually follow through on her boast of being able to spin straw into gold.

Tonight’s show opens up with Emma telling Mr. Gold that he is Henry’s grandfather.  Mr. Gold is sick.  Meanwhile Regina has the phones tapped where Mary Margaret is and Mr. Gold and Cora knows that Mr. Gold is dying.  Cora tells Regina that they cannot let Mr. Gold die she has to go and stab Mr. Gold with the knide and then Cora will get the power from the dark one.  Regina tells Cora if she does it Henry will never forgive them and she asks Cora why exactly is she doing it.

Cora tells Regina that she is doing it for their family.

Back in the fairytale that was, the Miller’s daughter, Cora is dancing with Prince Henry and the King cuts in, he recognizes her – he sees the strands of straw on her clothes.  The King tell her his son does not need her kind.  She tells the King she can spin straw into gold and she is not giving him her gold.

The King challenges her and tells her he is locking her in the tower overnight and if she can spin the straw into gold she marries the Prince but if she  fails she dies.

David, Mary Margaret and Emma are trying to take Mr. Gold to Cora.  Mary Margaret tells David that they need to stop Cora.  David is not pleased he tells Mary Margaret Cora cannot die by her had or by her vengeance.

Mr. Gold tells David to take him back to his shop because there is magic there.  Henry tells them not to worry he is confident they will stop Cora.

Meanwhile back in the Fairy Tale that was, the Miller’s daughter, Cora is in the tower and trying to escape.  Rumplestilskin shows up and tells Cora it is a coincidence his favorite pastime is to spin gold.  Cora asks why he would help her and he gives her a contract that says if he helps Cora she has to give him her first born child.

Cora tells him that she wants him to not only do it but he has to teach her how to do it.  Rumple gives her the pen to sign the contract.

Mr. Gold gets to his shop and Mr. Gold gives Emma invisible chalk that she has to draw a line with.  He tells Emma, Mary Margaret, David and the rest of the gang to prepare for a battle.

Emma starts to draw a line on the ground and Mr. Gold’s son talks to her.  Emma tells him she does not care he is engaged.

Mary Margaret knows that Mr. Gold is dying and there is one thing that can save him.  There is a candle and if Mary Margaret uses it Mr. Gold will live and Cora will die.  Mary Margaret tells him she did not use it to save her mother, how can she use to to save Mr. Gold.

Mary Margaret tells Mr. Gold there is another way that she can control Cora and let Mr. Gold die.  Mr. Gold tells her Henry would never forgive Mary Margaret.

Mr. Gold tells Emma that she can cast a protection spell.  Emma does not think she can but Mr. Gold tells her to stop thinking and feel it.  Emma concentrates and she is successful with the spell.

Back in the fairtytale that was Cora is complaining that she is not getting how to spin gold.  Rumplestilskin tells her to stop thinking, she has to start letting her emotions rule her.  Bloodlust is what makes magic work,  Rumple asks Cora to let him help her and he gives her the memories that will make her be able to spin gold.

The next day she shows the King how she can spin gold.  The King is surprised because she is just the Miller’s daughter.  The King tells Cora she has earned the right to marry his son, the Prince.  The Prince asks Cora to get married.

Back in Storybrooke Mary Margaret is upset and David can tell she is.  David asks her what is wrong but she does not tell him.  He tells her not to worry they will do what has to be done.

Everything starts to vibrate David tells everyone Regina and Cora are there.

Regain and Cora shoot a ball of fire and get into Mr. Gold’s shop, Meanwhile Mary Margaret leaves by the back.

David, Emma and Bae fight Regina and Cora.  Cora and Regina defeat them but then Cora says someone is with her heart and she sends Regina to her vault to see who is there.  Regina leaves.

Cora and Rumplestilskin are in her room and she is in her wedding dress.  Cora and Rumplestilskin are kissing and Cora tells Rumple she use to think she wanted to marry the Prince but not she is not so sure.  Rumple tells her he cannot give her anything but Cora tells him they can have love.

Rumple asks if they can amend the contract and instead of her first born child she can give him his first born child.  Cora asks Rumple if they can do one thing.  The King humiliated her and she wants to know if Rumple can help her kill the king.  Rumple agrees and they seal the deal with a kiss.

Mary Margaret is in Regina’s vault looking for Cora’s heart.  David calls Emma to see if she is safe and wants to know where Mary Margaret is.  No one can figure out where she is.

Mary Margaret finds Cora’s heart in a chest and opens it up.  She is thinking about what she wants to do.  She finally opens the box takes the candle and drips wax on it and changes Cora’s name.

In the Fairytale that was Cora comes into see the King who is counting his money.  Cora tells The King she does not love his son.   The King tells Cora he knows.  She has a choice to run away with Rumplestilskin for love of stay by his son and rule as Queen.

Cora puts her hand on his chest and says love is weakness.

Meanwhile Cora is still working on breaking the spell to get to Mr. Gold.  Mr. Gold tells then he needs to speak to Belle because he is dying.  He tells Belle he is dying and she tells him she does not recognize him.  Mr. Gold tells her she is a hero who helped her people and she is a women who loved an ugly man.  He tells her she makes him want to go back to the best version of him and that has not happened before.  So he wants to know if she looks in the mirror and does not recognize herself that is who she is. #tearsdrop

Mr. Gold tells him he did not know he had it in him.  Mr. Gold tells Bae he searched a life time to tell him he loved him and he is sorry.

Bae tells him he did not think he would go back on his deal.  Mr. Gold reaches for his hand and Bae tells him he is still angry at him but takes his hand and sobs.

Regina comes down to the vault and meets Mary Margaret.  She tells Mary Margaret she has no right to her mother’s heart.  Mary Margaret tells Regina that her mother does not love her because she does not have a heart.  Mary Margaret tells her she is giving Regina her heart – if she puts it back in her mother she will love her again.

Mary Margaret tells Regina imagine how much love she could have if her mother had a heart.  Mary Margaret tells Regina she has a choice a mother with a heart or a mother who is the “dark one.”

In the Fairytale that was Cora meets Rumple and he was getting concerned.  Rumple tells Cora he feels something is not right.  Cora tells Rumple that she could have killed The King but she has decided to marry The Prince and not kill the King.  Rumple asks her whose heart is in the box and Cora tells him it is her heart.

She had to remove her heart because it was stopping her.  Rumple realizes that Cora never loved him.  Rumple tells her they have a contract, but Cora reminds him they changed the contract.

Back in Storybrooke David finds Mary Margaret and he asks what she has done.  Mary Margaret tells David that he was right this isn’t her.

Cora gets through the spell and gets in the room to see Mr. Gold.  Emma and Bae disappear and Mr. Gold asks Cora if she can answer one question.  Mr. Gold wants to know if she ever loved him.  Cora admits the reason she tool her heart out was that he was the only man she ever loved.  Cora takes the knife to stab Mr. Gold and Regina shows up and puts Cora’s heart back in.

Back in the Fairytale the kingdom is being presented Cora and Henry’s daughter Princess Regina.  Cora tells the Kingdom one day Regina will be Queen.

Back in Storybrooke – Cora is bleeding and Mr. Gold is healing.  Regina goes to Cora and asks what is wrong.  Regina does not know what is going on.

Mr. Gold is up and looking at them with his sword in his hand.  He tells Regina her mother did her no favor.

Regain accuses him of stealing her mother’s life and Mr. Gold tells her he did nothing.

Mary Margaret breaks into the room screaming Regina!

Regina looks up and says to Mary Margaret, “You Did This!”
